The Alcatel ePure Iconic is a cordless DECT phone designed to look like the handset of a classic desk telephone: a curved black handset that rests on a sculpted base, with a dot-matrix backlit display and keypad on the inside. It is for living rooms, hotel rooms, reception areas and anyone who wants a phone that looks like a design object while still giving modern features such as call blocking, handsfree and a 100-contact phonebook.
It connects to an analogue telephone line — a classic copper line or the analogue phone port of your fibre or VDSL router — with the supplied 1.5 m RJ11 line cord. The menu is available in 11 languages including Greek, and the handset is hearing-aid compatible.
Before you order: Needs an analogue line or the analogue phone port of your router; it is not an IP/SIP phone. This is the EWE edition for Germany: the line cord is RJ11/RJ11 (it suits Cyprus sockets and routers) and the mains adapter may need a plug adapter for UK-style (BS 1363) sockets.

What It Means in Practice
- The handset shape is comfortable on the ear and shoulder, like an old desk phone, but it is fully cordless with up to 50 m range indoors.
- The display is a 96 × 64 dot-matrix screen with dark characters on a white backlight and adjustable contrast.
- Hearing-aid compatibility (TIA-1083, T-coil) makes calls clearer for hearing-aid users.
- Call blocking works manually or automatically, up to 100 numbers, and anonymous calls can be blocked.
- 100 contacts with a VIP option, a 50-number caller list, 20-number redial and 3 one-touch memory keys.
- Choose the menu language from 11 options, including Greek and English.
What Will Not Work
- It will not connect to Ethernet, Wi-Fi or a VoIP/SIP account.
- There is no answering machine — use your operator voicemail if you need messages.
- It does not work during a power cut, because the base needs mains power.
- The box has one handset; extra ePure handsets for other rooms are sold separately.
- Caller name and number appear only if Caller ID is active on your line.
