Server chassis for building servers, storage and network appliances: 19-inch rack-mount cases in 1U, 2U and 4U heights, short-depth cases for wall cabinets, and server towers, many with hot-swap drive bays. Mainly from Inter-Tech, with Chieftec and Lanberg models.
How to choose a server case
- Height and depth. 1U and 2U save rack space but need low-profile cards and server power supplies; 4U takes standard ATX supplies and full-height cards. Check the case depth against your rack or cabinet.
- Drives. Count the 3.5-inch and 2.5-inch bays and whether you need hot-swap backplanes.
- Rails and power. Rails are often sold separately; check the power supply format (ATX, 1U, 2U or redundant).
