USB cables and adapters for printers, scanners, external drives, phones and industrial equipment — USB-A to B, Micro and Mini USB, USB 3.x, passive and active extension cables, USB to serial and Lightning. From Delock, Lindy, StarTech.com, Digitus, Equip and other brands.
Which USB cable do I need?
- USB-B (square plug) — printers, scanners, audio interfaces and some industrial devices.
- Micro-USB — older phones, power banks and small devices. The wide USB 3.0 Micro-B plug is used on older external hard drives.
- Mini-USB — older cameras, GPS units, game controllers and some measuring instruments.
- USB 2.0 or USB 3.x? USB 2.0 (480 Mbps) is enough for printers, keyboards and charging. USB 3.x (5–10 Gbps, usually a blue insert) matters for external drives and cameras.
Length: passive USB 2.0 cables work up to about 5 m, USB 3.x up to about 3 m. For longer runs choose an active extension cable (with a built-in repeater); for tens of metres, a USB over Ethernet extender.
Good to know: a USB-A to USB-A cable does not connect two computers to each other — that needs a USB data-link (bridge) cable. USB to serial adapters need a driver; tell us the device and operating system and we will confirm compatibility.
