Before you choose
- 400 or 800. Check the connector on your device: 6-pin or 4-pin for FireWire 400, 9-pin for FireWire 800.
- Drivers. Current Windows versions use the built-in 1394 driver; some older capture software needs a specific chipset.
- Slot. Most current motherboards only have PCIe slots; older PCI cards do not fit them. Check which free slot you have.
