SSDs built for servers, virtualisation and databases: steady performance under constant load, power-loss protection and endurance ratings in drive writes per day (DWPD). 2.5-inch SATA and SAS drives, U.2 NVMe drives, and OEM drives with carriers for HPE, Dell and Fujitsu servers. From Samsung, Kingston, KIOXIA and server makers.
How to choose a server SSD
- Interface. Match the server backplane: SATA, SAS or U.2 NVMe. U.2 drives need an NVMe-capable backplane or controller.
- Endurance. Read-intensive drives (about 1 DWPD) suit file and web servers; mixed-use drives (about 3 DWPD) suit databases and heavy writes.
- Branded servers. HPE, Dell and Fujitsu servers often need drives with their own carrier and firmware to be fully supported.
