Before you choose
- Size. Desktop drives are 5.25-inch; laptop drives are slim, usually 9.5 mm or 12.7 mm high. Measure the old drive.
- Case. Many new cases have no 5.25-inch bay; an external writer is the alternative.
- Laptop bezel. A slim replacement may need the front bezel from your old drive.
