Internal Wi-Fi cards for desktop PCs: PCI Express adapters with Wi-Fi 5, Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7, most with Bluetooth, plus Intel M.2 Wi-Fi modules for laptops, mini PCs and motherboards. From TP-Link, ASUS, Intel, Edimax, Inter-Tech, Cudy and Gigabyte.
How to choose the right Wi-Fi card
- Check the slot. PCIe cards need a free PCIe slot (x1 is enough). Small form factor PCs need a card with a low-profile bracket.
- Bluetooth needs an extra cable. On combo Wi-Fi + Bluetooth cards, Bluetooth works only after you connect the supplied cable to a USB header on the motherboard.
- Operating system. The 6 GHz band of Wi-Fi 6E and the new features of Wi-Fi 7 require Windows 11. Some Intel-based Wi-Fi 7 cards work only in Intel-platform PCs, so check the listing if your PC has an AMD processor.
- M.2 modules. Intel AX200 and AX210 are standard M.2 2230 cards. Intel AX201 is a CNVi module and works only in boards built for it. Check your laptop or motherboard before ordering.
- Match your router. A Wi-Fi 6E or Wi-Fi 7 card brings its full speed only with a router or access point of the same standard. Cards with a magnetic antenna base let you place the antennas where reception is best.
- No free slot? Use a Wi-Fi USB adapter. For a wired connection, see network cards.
