An Android touch computer for demanding workspaces

The Elo E176640 combines a 21.5-inch Full HD touchscreen and an Android computer in a stainless-steel enclosure. Qualcomm QCS6490 processing, 8GB RAM and 64GB storage run the installed Android application on the device itself, making it suitable for a configured kitchen display, industrial interface or self-service application without a separate host PC. This is the I-Series 5 Steel variant with integrated PoE, not a monitor-only display. Your application, network and suitable mounting hardware must be arranged for the intended installation.

Before you order:
The PoE box does not include an AC power brick or power cables. Elo recommends an active IEEE 802.3bt PoE++ source rated 60W or more per port for full functionality; up to 51W is available to the system. Lower PoE budgets limit features. Do not connect PoE and a DC adapter simultaneously. The IP ratings are IP65 at the front and IP54 at the rear, not IP65 on every side.

What It Means in Practice

  • For a kitchen display deployment, install a suitable Android order-display application, mount the computer using its 75mm or 100mm VESA interface, and connect it to the configured network and correctly budgeted PoE source. Test the application, peripherals and cable-cover installation before deployment. EloView and OS 360 are available management/service options; their subscriptions and your application are not established as included.

What Will Not Work

  • A basic 802.3af PoE source is not recommended for optimal operation. Under the manual’s below-25.5W PoE profile, Wi-Fi, USB-A, USB-C and external-display functions are disabled and the 22-inch brightness setting is limited to 70%. The device has no Edge Connect or GPIO ports. It does not include a payment application, payment reader or mounting stand.

VESA 75/100mm supports landscape or portrait mounting with suitable hardware. The integrated 8MP autofocus camera, two digital microphones and two speakers support appropriately configured applications.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can any PoE switch power all its functions?
No. Elo recommends active 802.3bt PoE++ rated at least 60W per port. The manual describes feature restrictions at lower budgets, including disabled Wi-Fi and USB in the below-25.5W profile.
Is the screen brightness 250nits in normal touch use?
Elo separates the bare LCD value, 250nits, from 215nits with TouchPro PCAP. Use the latter figure when comparing the complete touchscreen.
Can it replace a monitor connected to any Windows PC?
Its verified role is an Android all-in-one computer running a compatible installed application. Do not assume a video-input monitor mode or Windows application support from the USB-C connector alone.
