Dell 256GB USB 3.2 Type-A / Type-C Combo Flash Drive — Detachable Cap
256GBUSB-A + USB-CUp to 200 MB/s read5-year Dell limited warranty
The Dell 256GB USB 3.2 Type-A/C Combo Flash Drive (Dell part AD564596, MPN SNPUSB3AC001/256G) is a dual-connector USB stick with a USB-A plug on one end and a USB-C plug on the other, for people who move files between older PCs, new USB-C laptops, tablets and phones.
Dell rates it at up to 200 MB/s read and up to 50 MB/s write. That makes it quick for opening and copying files from the stick, but large backups to the stick take noticeably longer than reading them back. A detachable cap covers the USB-C connector when it is in a bag or pocket.
Before you order: Write speed is up to 50 MB/s — fine for documents, photos and installers, slow for copying large video libraries or full disk images. Reading back is up to 200 MB/s.
What's in the Box
- Dell 256GB USB 3.2 Type-A/C Combo Flash Drive with detachable cap
What It Means in Practice
- One stick works with a desktop that has only USB-A ports and with a MacBook, Windows ultrabook or Android device that has only USB-C — no adapter needed.
- A 10 GB folder of documents and photos reads back in about a minute at full speed; writing the same folder takes several minutes at up to 50 MB/s.
- It also works in USB 2.0 ports, but at USB 2.0 speed.
- Phones and tablets need USB OTG support to see the drive through the USB-C plug.
What Will Not Work
- It is not a fast portable SSD — for frequent large transfers an external SSD is much quicker at writing.
- Older phones or tablets without USB OTG will not mount it.
- Operating systems older than those Dell lists (Windows 11, macOS 13.7.6+, Linux kernel 4.4.x+, ChromeOS) are not on Dell's compatibility list.
- Do not confuse it with the older Dell AC429144 256GB USB A/C Combo drive — that is a different model.

Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
Dual-connector sticks are the simplest way to carry files between USB-A and USB-C devices. If you write large files often, an external SSD is the better tool; for documents, installers and photos this drive is the convenient choice. See all our
USB flash drives.
✓ Buy it if you move files between USB-A PCs and USB-C laptops, tablets or phones and want one stick with a long Dell warranty.
✕ Skip it if you regularly copy large video projects or disk images — the 50 MB/s write speed will slow you down.
