Anyone looking from outside a 60° viewing cone sees a dark screen, while you keep a clear picture straight on — for professionals who work on the move, in meetings and in shared spaces.
It uses 3M Bright Screen technology with a Nanolouver structure. 3M quotes an average 85% light transmission — up to 25% brighter than its other black privacy filters — so you rarely need to raise the backlight to compensate. The filter is reversible: one side is glossy for the sharpest image, the other matte to cut reflections and fingerprints. 3M also says it helps reduce blue light without distorting colours, and that every filter is hand-inspected and withstands hundreds of cleanings.

Before you order: Made only for the Microsoft Surface Pro 8, 9, 11 and Pro X. It is not a generic 13" filter — on other models the size and shape will not line up. Older Surface Pro 4–7 models have a 12.3" screen and need the 3M BPTMS001; Surface Go and Surface Laptop use their own 3M filters.

What It Means in Practice
- People beside you see a black screen once they are outside the 60° viewing cone; straight on, the image stays normal.
- With about 85% light transmission the screen stays bright at normal backlight levels, which also helps battery life compared with darker filters.
- Flip the filter up on its COMPLY hinge to show the screen to a colleague, then fold it back down — no need to remove it.
- Fitting takes a few minutes: clean the screen, place the small COMPLY tabs on the bezel (or use the adhesive strips), then hang the filter on them. Keep the tabs aligned so the filter sits flat and centred.
- Choose the glossy side for vivid colours or the matte side for bright offices and fewer fingerprints; decide before you attach it.
- 3M states all Bright Screen filters are touch compatible, so touch and pen input keep working through the film.

- Any device other than the Microsoft Surface Pro 8, 9, 11 and Pro X — see the model note above.
- Portrait privacy: protection works side-to-side in landscape orientation only.
- Desktop monitors or a second screen — they need their own, larger 3M monitor filter.

Can I take it off and put it back?
Yes. With the COMPLY Flip Attach tabs fitted, the filter lifts off and goes back on while the tabs stay on the bezel. The adhesive strips are the more permanent, low-profile option.
Will it fit a similar model?
3M lists only the Microsoft Surface Pro 8, 9, 11 and Pro X for the BPTMS002. Screen sizes and bezels differ between generations, so send us your exact model and we will confirm the right 3M filter.
How should I clean it?
