3M PF270W1B Privacy Filter for 27in Monitor, 16:10
60° black-out privacy27" · 16:10For bezel monitorsGlossy / matte reversible
The 3M PF270W1B is a black-out privacy filter for the 27" 16:10 monitor with a raised bezel: anyone looking from the side, outside a 60-degree viewing angle, sees a dark screen, while you keep a clear picture from the front. It is made for offices, reception and service desks, open-plan floors and anyone who works with personal, financial or customer data on screen.
This is the 3M Black Privacy Filter design for monitors with a raised bezel: the filter covers the viewable area inside the frame. Size it by the visible picture area, not by the outer dimensions of the monitor.
Both sides are usable: a glossy side for the crispest look and a matte side that cuts glare and fingerprints. 3M also states that the filter helps reduce blue light without distorting the natural colours of the display. The filter is made in the USA, TAA compliant and 100% hand-inspected.
Before you order: Measure the viewable screen area inside the bezel and match both the diagonal (27") and the aspect ratio (16:10). A 27" 16:9 screen has a different shape and needs a different filter.
What's in the Box
- 1 × 3M PF270W1B privacy filter
- 3M does not list the attachment parts supplied with this model and notes that some attachment parts are not included with every filter; adhesive strips and slide-mount tabs are available from 3M as attachment parts
What It Means in Practice
- A colleague beside your desk, a visitor at reception or a passenger next to you in a shared space sees a dark screen; you see the normal image from the front.
- Turn the filter to the glossy side for a brighter, sharper look, or to the matte side if overhead lights or windows reflect on the screen.
- Take the filter off before you clean the monitor; clean the filter with a soft lint-free cloth and an ammonia-free glass cleaner, as 3M recommends.
- 3M builds the filter to withstand hundreds of cleanings, so it is meant to stay on the monitor for everyday use, not as a temporary cover.
What Will Not Work
- A monitor of a different size or aspect ratio: a 27" 16:9 screen, for example, needs a different 3M model.
- Frameless monitors with flat front glass: for those, 3M makes Full Screen (E/EM) filters designed to span the glass edge to edge.
- Laptops, tablets and phones: 3M makes separate privacy filters for those devices.
- Someone standing directly behind you: the black-out works for side views outside the 60-degree angle, not for someone looking over your shoulder from straight behind.
- Touchscreen use: 3M does not state compatibility for this model, so ask us before ordering for such a display.
Key Features
60-degree black-out privacy
Outside a 60-degree viewing angle the screen turns dark for side viewers, so on-screen data stays between you and the monitor.
Glossy or matte, your choice
Reversible filter: glossy side for clarity, matte side to reduce glare and fingerprints in bright rooms.
Blue light reduction
3M states the filter helps reduce blue light without distorting the natural colour of the display.
Made for bezel monitors
Sized to the viewable area inside the monitor frame; attaches with removable 3M attachment parts.

Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
Getting the size right is most of the job: the filter must match the diagonal, the aspect ratio and the monitor type (raised bezel or frameless glass), because that decides which 3M family fits. Bezel filters are the classic choice for monitors with a visible frame around the picture. For other sizes and models, see our privacy filters and screen protectors.
✓ Buy it if You use a 27" 16:10 monitor with a raised bezel and people can see your screen from the side.
✕ Skip it if Your monitor is frameless with flat front glass; the 3M Full Screen (E/EM) version of the same size is the right fit.
→ Also consider A 3M filter for your other monitors, so every workstation in the room gets the same protection.
Not sure which model fits? Send us your monitor model, or measure the screen as described above, and we will confirm the right 3M filter before you order.
