The Allied Telesis x950-52XSQ (order code AT-x950-52XSQ-B05) is a 1U Layer 3 stackable switch with 48 SFP+ ports for 1/2.5/5/10G and four QSFP28 uplinks for 40G or 100G, built as a core or aggregation switch for campus and data-centre networks.

This -B05 bundle is the switch together with 5 years of Allied Telesis Net Cover support. It ships with its two fans installed but without power supplies: you choose one or two AT-PWR600 modules (and the airflow direction) separately, which is the main thing to get right when ordering.

Before you order: The chassis does not include power supplies. Order at least one AT-PWR600 (two for 1+1 redundancy) with the correct regional power cord, plus every SFP+/QSFP28 transceiver or DAC cable you need — none are in the box.

What It Means in Practice

  • 48 fibre/DAC ports at up to 10G each make it a dense aggregation layer for access switches, servers or storage in one rack unit.
  • The four QSFP28 ports run at 40G or 100G, or split into 4x 10G with breakout cables, so you can uplink to a core or stack over fast links.
  • VCStack joins up to 8 units into one logical switch; VCStack LD stretches a stack across buildings over fibre.
  • Dual hot-swap PSU bays let you run 1+1 redundant power and replace a supply without downtime.

What Will Not Work

  • It will not power on without at least one separately purchased AT-PWR600 / AT-PWR600-80 power supply.
  • The SFP ports do not take 100M transceivers and run full-duplex only.
  • Reverse-airflow PSUs (PWR600R) must not be mixed with the standard FAN05 fans — swap to AT-FAN05R if you need rear-to-front cooling.
  • Several advanced features (e.g. OSPF/BGP routing scale, AMF Plus, OpenFlow) need separately purchased Allied Telesis licences.
  • There is no copper RJ45 data port — for 10GBASE-T choose the x950-52XTQm instead.

Does the switch come with power supplies?
No. The base chassis ships with fans only. Order one AT-PWR600 for a single supply or two for 1+1 redundancy, with the cord type for your region.
What does -B05 mean?
It is the switch bundled with 5 years of Allied Telesis Net Cover support. The power-cord region is chosen on the PSU order code, not on the switch.
Can I use third-party SFP+ modules?
Allied Telesis does not list third-party optics as supported. Send us your planned modules or DAC cables and we will check them against the official compatibility list.
Can I stack it with other x950 models?
VCStack is designed for x950 Series switches; mixed-model stacks depend on firmware and model. Tell us your existing switches and we will confirm.
