Alaris S2070: 70 ppm A4 duplex scanning with an 80-sheet feeder
70 ppm / 140 ipm duplex80-sheet ADFUp to 10,000 pages/dayUSB 3.2 Gen 1
The Alaris S2070 is an A4 sheet-fed duplex document scanner rated at up to 70 pages per minute for offices that scan up to 10,000 pages a day. It feeds up to 80 sheets at a time, reads both sides in one pass and handles everything from thin receipts and business cards to embossed ID cards and long documents up to 3 metres. It connects by USB to one Windows or Linux PC, which makes it a straightforward personal or front-desk scanner with no network setup. Kodak Alaris built the S2000 range around feed reliability: ultrasonic multifeed detection, document protection and a controlled output stack mean mixed piles of invoices, forms and ID cards go through without constant babysitting. The scanner badge may read Kodak or Alaris depending on production batch; the hardware, drivers and specifications are the same.
Before you order: Windows and Linux only; macOS is not among the officially supported operating systems, so check your computers before you order.

What It Means in Practice
- At 70 ppm a 30-page contract scans double-sided in well under a minute, so a single operator can clear a daily intake of a few hundred pages in a short session.
- The 80-sheet feeder accepts mixed sizes in one stack, from 52 x 52 mm receipts and cards to A4 and legal pages, so you do not need to pre-sort a typical incoming-mail pile.
- Plastic ID and insurance cards up to 1.25 mm thick, including embossed cards, feed through the ADF; there is no separate card slot to manage.
- Smart Touch lets you assign one-button jobs such as scan to searchable PDF in a folder or scan to email, so non-technical staff scan the same way every time.
- TWAIN and ISIS drivers mean it works with most document management, accounting and capture software that already supports scanners on Windows.
What Will Not Work
- Don't accidentally order the S2060w if you want maximum speed on one PC: the S2070 is 70 ppm USB-only, the S2060w is 60 ppm with Wi-Fi and Ethernet.
- No flatbed is built in, so bound books, passports, fragile originals or photos you cannot risk in a feeder need the optional Passport, Integrated A4/Legal or A3 flatbed accessory.
- Maximum feeder width is 216 mm, so A3 drawings and wide plans cannot go through the ADF; for A3 sheet-feeding look at the S3060 or S3100.
- macOS is not listed among the supported operating systems; the official drivers cover Windows and Linux only.
- There is no Wi-Fi or Ethernet; it must be cabled by USB to a computer, so it cannot be shared on the network on its own.
Key Features
Perfect Page image processing
On-board processing straightens, crops, rotates and cleans each page, removes blank sides and evens out backgrounds, so files are usable and small without manual editing afterwards.
Paper protection
Ultrasonic and length-based multifeed detection plus intelligent document protection stop the feed when two sheets stick together or a page starts to crumple, protecting originals and avoiding silently missing pages.
Barcode reading and OCR outputs
The driver can read common 1D and 2D barcodes, including QR and PDF417, and the bundled software outputs searchable PDF, Word and Excel, useful for automatic file naming and indexing.
Flatbed expansion
If you sometimes need to scan a passport, a bound page or an A3 sheet, the optional Kodak Alaris flatbeds connect to the scanner so one workstation covers both batch and exception documents.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Alaris-badged unit different from a Kodak-badged one?
No. Kodak Alaris has sold the S2070 under both badges; the mechanism, drivers and specifications on the official page are the same. Order by part number 1015049 and we confirm what you receive.
Can it scan straight into my existing software?
Most Windows capture, DMS and accounting packages use TWAIN or ISIS, both of which are provided. Tell us the software name and version and we will check it before you order.
Does it handle long documents?
Yes, the feeder accepts documents up to 3000 mm long, which covers ECG strips, long receipts and continuous forms; very long items should be fed one at a time.
Can I add network sharing later?
No. Network features are only on the S2060w and S2080w; the USB models cannot be upgraded with a network module, so choose the w model if sharing matters.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
The S2070 is a no-fuss workhorse: plug it into the PC that runs your document software and it simply clears paper. Most people buying in this class overestimate the speed they need and underestimate feeder reliability, which is where the S2000 range earns its reputation. If several people need to scan, the w model is worth the small step up.
✓ Buy it if Buy it if you scan up to about 10,000 mixed-size pages a day at a single workstation.
✕ Skip it if Skip it if you need A3 sheet-feeding, macOS support or a built-in flatbed for books and passports.
→ Also consider Also consider the Alaris S2080w for the same class of speed with Wi-Fi and Ethernet sharing, or the S2050 for lower volumes.
