The Amazon Echo Show 8 (2025 release) is an 8.7-inch HD smart display with Alexa built in, and it doubles as a full smart home hub with Zigbee, Matter and a Thread border router, which makes it a control point for a household rather than just a screen with a voice assistant. Supplied here as ASIN B0DTQF1MQT in Graphite, it runs Amazon’s AZ3 Pro silicon with a dedicated AI accelerator, pairs two front-firing stereo drivers with a 2.8-inch woofer, and adds a 13 MP auto-framing camera and Amazon’s new Omnisense presence sensing. This is the Graphite version. It is identical to the Glacier White Echo Show 8 (ASIN B0DTQWYZFF) in every respect except the finish — same panel, same silicon, same audio, same sensors, same box contents.
This is the German-market (DE) unit — it ships with a Schuko Type F plug. Cyprus uses Type G (BS 1363) sockets, so you will need a plug adapter. The device is 230 V and otherwise works normally here.
There is no physical camera shutter. The previous 2023 model had a sliding cover; the 2025 model does not. A single button electronically disables the microphones and the camera, but the lens is never physically covered.
Alexa+ is not guaranteed for a Cyprus account. Amazon’s next-generation assistant launched in Germany and Austria in May 2026 as an invitation-based Early Access programme, free during Early Access and then included with Prime or €22.99 per month without it. Cyprus is not on Amazon’s published Alexa+ country list — availability follows the marketplace of the Amazon account you set the device up with, not the box. Standard Alexa works regardless.
The language is not fixed by the DE box. You choose it in the Alexa app at setup and can change it later. Distributor records for these EANs that list “English, Spanish” are US-spec data attached to an EU barcode.

The interesting thing about this generation is that Amazon stopped treating the Echo Show as a speaker with a screen bolted on. Front-firing drivers, a real 2.8-inch woofer and a centred camera fix the three things people complained about in the 2023 model, and the Zigbee, Matter and Thread combination means it can genuinely replace a separate hub — see what it can control in our smart home range. Graphite is the finish to pick if the unit will sit against dark cabinetry or a TV wall where a white body would draw the eye. Two caveats are worth being blunt about. The physical camera shutter is gone, which is a real step backwards for anyone who puts one of these in a bedroom or a kitchen they work in. And Alexa+, the whole reason this hardware exists, is still an Early Access programme with a country list that does not currently include Cyprus. If you mainly want good sound in one room, a dedicated speaker from our speakers range will go louder for the money.
