AOC C27G4Z2 — 260 Hz Overclocked on a Curved Fast VA Panel

27-inch curved 1500R Fast VA260 Hz overclocked, 240 Hz native1 ms GtG and 0.3 ms MPRTTilt, swivel and 130 mm height

The AOC C27G4Z2 is a 27-inch curved gaming monitor built for speed at Full HD. The Fast VA panel runs 240 Hz natively and 260 Hz overclocked, with a 1 ms grey-to-grey response and a 0.3 ms MPRT figure, and the 1500R curve wraps the edges of the screen toward you. Contrast is 3000:1 static — VA territory rather than IPS — and colour coverage reaches 94% DCI-P3, which is wider than most panels sold at this price. The stand tilts, swivels and adjusts 130 mm in height, and both video cables are in the box.

Compatibility — check before buying:
???? The refresh rate is 260 Hz overclocked, 240 Hz native — not 280 Hz. AOC sells a separate C27G4Z at 280 Hz, and the two codes differ by a single character. If you were quoted 280 Hz, that is the other model; check the full part number on the box. The two response figures mean different things: 1 ms is the grey-to-grey figure, 0.3 ms is MPRT and is achieved with backlight strobing, not by the pixels switching faster. There are no speakers and no USB hub — the ports are two HDMI 2.0, one DisplayPort 1.4 and a headphone jack. The stand does not pivot. AOC publishes HDR10 support but no VESA DisplayHDR certification, and publishes no dynamic contrast figure for this model, so we quote only the 3000:1 static ratio. AOC also publishes no EU energy class for this screen.

Best For

✓ Competitive shooters at Full HD where frame rate beats resolution
✓ Gaming PCs that can actually push 240 frames per second at 1080p
✓ Desks where a height-adjustable gaming monitor is worth the difference
✓ Anyone wanting VA contrast rather than washed-out blacks
✓ Console and PC use side by side — two HDMI inputs
✓ Buyers who want both video cables included

Key Features

240 Hz native, 260 Hz overclocked
AOC publishes both figures honestly: the panel runs 240 Hz as standard and can be overclocked to 260 Hz. Adaptive Sync covers the full 48–260 Hz range, so frame rates below the ceiling stay smooth.

VA contrast, not IPS glow
3000:1 static contrast from a Fast VA panel — roughly three times what a typical IPS gaming monitor manages. Dark scenes look dark rather than grey, which matters more in games than most specifications.

Wider colour than the price suggests
94% DCI-P3, 91.5% Adobe RGB and 120.9% sRGB. Most Full HD gaming panels at this level do not publish DCI-P3 figures at all.

A stand that adjusts
Tilt −3° to +21°, swivel ±30° and 130 mm of height travel, plus a removable stand and a Kensington lock slot. Height adjustment is often the first thing cut on a gaming monitor at this price.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it 260 Hz or 280 Hz?
260 Hz overclocked, 240 Hz native. AOC publishes a separate model, the C27G4Z, at 280 Hz — the codes differ by one character and the monitors look identical. If the specification you were given says 280, check the part number on the box before ordering.
What is the difference between the 1 ms and 0.3 ms figures?
1 ms is grey-to-grey, the time a pixel takes to change colour. 0.3 ms is MPRT, which measures perceived motion blur and is achieved by strobing the backlight — it usually costs brightness and cannot be combined with adaptive sync. Both are published by AOC and both are honest, but they are not the same measurement.
Does it have speakers?
No, and no USB hub either. The ports are two HDMI 2.0, one DisplayPort 1.4 and a 3.5 mm headphone output. Plan for headphones or desk speakers.
Will Full HD look sharp at 27 inches?
At 81.5 PPI it is noticeably less sharp than a 27-inch QHD screen. That is the trade for pushing 240 Hz — fewer pixels to drive means far higher frame rates from the same graphics card. If sharpness matters more than frame rate, a QHD panel is the better choice.
Singular Expert Insight
???? The most useful thing on this page is the part number. AOC sells the C27G4Z at 280 Hz and this C27G4Z2 at 260 Hz overclocked, and there are further variants — C27G4ZE, C27G4ZX — on the same visually identical chassis. Feed data and reseller listings mix them up constantly; ours said 280 Hz and AOC does not. Check the full suffix before ordering. Beyond that, this is a sensible Full HD gaming panel: VA contrast at 3000:1 where an IPS would give you 1000:1, genuinely wide colour at 94% DCI-P3, a height-adjustable stand and both cables included. What it lacks is resolution, speakers and any USB. If you want the sharper picture at the same size, the QHD models in our PC monitor range are the alternative, and the AOC Q27G41ZDF is the OLED step up.

Buyer’s Guide

Buy it if

You play competitively at 1080p, your graphics card can push well over 200 frames per second, and you want VA contrast with a height-adjustable stand and both cables in the box.

Skip it if

You want QHD sharpness at 27 inches, speakers, a USB hub, or a pivoting stand — and be certain you are not actually looking for the 280 Hz C27G4Z.

Also consider

AOC C27G4Z if you specifically need 280 Hz. AOC Q27G41ZDF for a QD-OLED panel with far higher contrast and 240 Hz at QHD. A QHD 27-inch model if resolution matters more than frame rate.
