Apple MacBook Pro 14-inch with M5 Pro — 18-core CPU, 20-core GPU, 24GB unified memory, 1TB SSD

The Apple MacBook Pro 14-inch with M5 Pro is a professional laptop with an 18-core CPU, a 20-core GPU, 24GB of unified memory and a 1TB SSD, built for developers, photographers, video editors, designers and business users who need sustained performance and a top-class display in a portable 1.6 kg machine.
This is a configure-to-order (CTO) build in Space Black with the standard (glossy) Liquid Retina XDR display and an English keyboard layout, supplied without a power adapter. The full 18-core CPU gives it the same CPU core count as the M5 Max, while the 20-core GPU and 24GB of memory keep the price well below the Max configurations.
Before you order: This unit ships without a power adapter. Plan for a USB-C power adapter of at least 70W — 96W or higher enables fast charging. Memory and storage are fixed at purchase, so check that 24GB and 1TB cover your workload before you order.
What's in the Box
- 14-inch MacBook Pro — M5 Pro (18-core CPU, 20-core GPU), 24GB unified memory, 1TB SSD, standard display, English keyboard, Space Black
- USB-C to MagSafe 3 cable (2 m)
- No power adapter — sold separately (70W minimum, 96W or higher for fast charging)
What It Means in Practice
- The 18-core CPU (6 super cores and 12 performance cores) shortens code compiles, photo batch exports and multi-track audio work compared with the base M5 chip.
- 24GB of unified memory comfortably runs pro apps, many browser tabs, virtual machines and 4K editing at the same time; for very large 8K timelines, 3D scenes or local AI models, a higher-memory configuration is the better choice.
- The 20-core GPU with hardware ray tracing and Neural Accelerators handles 4K video effects, photo AI tools and moderate 3D work; heavy GPU rendering is M5 Max territory.
- One video encode engine and one ProRes encode/decode engine accelerate H.264, HEVC and ProRes exports.
- Up to three external displays — for example three at 6K/60Hz or 4K/144Hz, or one 8K/60Hz plus one 5K/120Hz — run alongside the built-in screen.
- 1TB holds macOS, your apps and current projects; large media libraries are best kept on fast external SSDs over Thunderbolt 5.
What Will Not Work
- The memory and the SSD are part of the system — neither can be upgraded or replaced after purchase.
- The USB-C to MagSafe 3 cable alone will not charge the laptop — a power adapter is not included.
- Windows cannot be installed natively (no Boot Camp on Apple silicon); Windows software needs virtualisation with the ARM version of Windows or a macOS alternative.
- External GPU (eGPU) enclosures are not supported on Apple silicon Macs.
- More than three external displays are not supported on M5 Pro — four displays need an M5 Max.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I charge it with an existing USB-C charger?
Yes, through any Thunderbolt 5 port or through MagSafe 3 with the supplied cable, but Apple specifies at least 70W. A smaller charger may not keep up under load; 96W or higher enables fast charging.
Is 24GB enough?
For development, photo editing, office work and 4K video, yes. If you work with 8K footage, large 3D scenes, several virtual machines or local AI models, choose a higher-memory configuration — memory cannot be added later.
M5 Pro or M5 Max?
This M5 Pro has the same 18 CPU cores as the M5 Max; the Max adds a 40-core GPU, double the memory bandwidth, extra media engines and support for four external displays. Choose the Max only if your work is GPU- or memory-bound.
Will it work with my office dock and monitors?
Yes — up to three external displays over Thunderbolt 5 and HDMI. Send us the model of your dock or monitors and we will confirm the combination before you order.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
The M5 Pro with the full 18-core CPU is the balanced MacBook Pro: the same CPU core count as the M5 Max at a much lower price, which suits developers, photographers and editors whose bottleneck is CPU rather than GPU. Pick 24GB if your apps fit comfortably today; step up in memory only if you already hit its limits. The unit ships without a power adapter, so plan one in: see our
laptop power supplies and choose a 96W or higher USB-C model for fast charging.
✓ Buy it if you code, edit photos or 4K video, or run demanding business apps, and want a fast, portable laptop with a top-class display.
✕ Skip it if you mainly do office and web work — a MacBook Air is lighter and cheaper — or you need heavy GPU rendering, 8K timelines or four external displays, which call for an M5 Max.
→ Also consider a MacBook Pro 14-inch with M5 Max for GPU-heavy work, or an M5 Pro configuration with more memory if your projects need it.
