The Apple MacBook Pro 16-inch with M5 Max (Z1N1-US01) is a configured-to-order MacBook Pro in Space Black with an 18-core CPU, 32-core GPU, 36 GB of unified memory and a 2 TB SSD, built for video editors, colourists, 3D artists and developers who need desktop-class GPU power and the largest MacBook screen.
It has a 16.2-inch Liquid Retina XDR display (3456 × 2234) with the standard finish, 1000 nits sustained and 1600 nits HDR peak brightness and 120 Hz ProMotion; three Thunderbolt 5 ports, HDMI, an SDXC card slot and MagSafe 3; a 100 Wh battery with up to 22 hours of video streaming; Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. This is a US configuration with a US (ANSI) keyboard.
Before you order: No power adapter is included with this configuration. Any USB-C Power Delivery charger works, and Apple specifies fast charging with a 140W or higher USB-C PD power source — ask us and we will add a suitable adapter to your order.
What's in the Box
- Apple MacBook Pro 16-inch (M5 Max, 18-core CPU, 32-core GPU, 36 GB, 2 TB SSD), Space Black
- Power adapter sold separately (not included in this configuration)
What It Means in Practice
- The 32-core GPU with ray tracing and 460 GB/s memory bandwidth accelerates 3D rendering, GPU effects in DaVinci Resolve and Final Cut Pro, and on-device machine learning.
- Two video encode engines and two ProRes engines speed up multi-stream 4K and 8K exports — a real time saver for editors delivering several formats.
- The 16.2-inch XDR screen gives more timeline and canvas space than the 14-inch, and up to four external displays can be connected (6K 60 Hz each) over Thunderbolt 5 and HDMI.
- 2 TB of internal storage holds active projects and caches on board; the SDXC slot and 120 Gb/s Thunderbolt 5 handle camera cards and fast external RAID.
- The 100 Wh battery gives up to 22 hours of video streaming or 16 hours of wireless web.
What Will Not Work
- Memory and storage cannot be upgraded later — and 36 GB is the only memory option with the 32-core GPU; more memory requires the 40-core GPU M5 Max.
- The display is the standard glossy finish, not the nano-texture option.
- Windows does not run natively on Apple silicon.
- The US ANSI keyboard has US key labels; Greek typing works through a macOS input source, but keys are not printed in Greek.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which charger should I use?
No adapter is included, so choose a USB-C Power Delivery charger for the Thunderbolt ports, or an Apple adapter with a MagSafe 3 cable. For fast charging Apple specifies 140W or higher. Tell us and we will quote a matching adapter.
Is 36 GB enough for M5 Max work?
For 4K/8K editing, colour grading and most 3D work, yes. For very large scenes, local AI models or heavy multi-app workflows, the 40-core GPU M5 Max with 48–128 GB is the step up — ask us for a quote.
14-inch or 16-inch?
The 16-inch gives a larger 3456 × 2234 screen and a 100 Wh battery at 2.15 kg; the 14-inch is lighter at around 1.6 kg. Performance of the same chip is comparable.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
The 16-inch M5 Max with 32-core GPU, 36 GB and 2 TB is the entry to Apple’s top laptop GPU tier: full media engines, four-display support and the largest XDR screen. Budget for a 140W charger and, for a desk setup, a Thunderbolt dock from our
docking station range. If your work is memory-bound, choose the 40-core GPU version now — memory cannot be added later.
✓ Buy it if you edit video, grade colour or render 3D on the move and want the biggest MacBook screen with M5 Max GPU power, and a US keyboard suits you.
✕ Skip it if you need more than 36 GB memory, a nano-texture display, a local-layout keyboard, or a lighter laptop.
→ Also consider the 14-inch MacBook Pro M5 Pro for lighter weight, or the Mac Studio M5 Max for a desk-bound setup.
