The ASRock X870E Challenger WiFi (part number 90-MXBUG0-A0UAYZ) is an AMD X870E ATX motherboard for Socket AM5 Ryzen 9000, 8000 and 7000 processors, aimed at high-end gaming and enthusiast builds. A 20+2+1 power phase with 110A SPS, server-grade low-loss PCB and 512Mb BIOS with Flashback support demanding CPUs, while the X870E chipset provides four full-speed M.2 sockets and more USB than X870. Networking combines a Realtek 5GbE port with an 802.11be Wi-Fi 7 module and Bluetooth 5.4.

Compatibility Note: Ryzen 8000 (Phoenix) processors run PCIE1 at Gen4 x8/x4 and M2_1 at Gen4. The USB4 ports only output video from the CPU integrated graphics. Wi-Fi 7 is supported under Windows 11 only.

What is the difference between the X870E and X870 Challenger WiFi?
The X870E version adds a second chipset, so all four M.2 sockets run at full Gen5/Gen4 x4 without sharing with USB4, and it has 20+2+1 phases with 110A SPS, 5GbE instead of 2.5GbE, ALC4082 audio, optical out and more rear USB. The X870 Challenger WiFi is the lower-cost option.
Can I use USB4 and all four M.2 sockets at the same time?
Yes. On this board the USB4 controller does not share lanes with the M.2 sockets, so M2_1 to M2_4 and both USB4 ports can be used together.
Does it need a graphics card?
Not if the Ryzen CPU has integrated RDNA graphics: HDMI supports 4K 120Hz and the USB4 ports output up to 8K 30Hz. Processors without integrated graphics need a discrete card in the PCIe 5.0 x16 slot.
What do I need to know before buying?
CPU, cooler, DDR5 memory and SSDs are sold separately. The Wi-Fi 7 module has no Windows 10 driver, and 6 GHz availability depends on local regulations.
