ASUS Cobble External M.2 SSD Enclosure
USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 · 10 GbpsNVMe & SATAUp to 4TBIP55 aluminium
The ASUS Cobble (part number 90DD02R0-M09000) is a pocket-sized external enclosure that turns a bare M.2 SSD into a fast, rugged portable drive over USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 at up to 10 Gbps. Unusually for its size it accepts both M.2 NVMe (PCIe) and M.2 SATA SSDs in 2242, 2260 and 2280 lengths, up to 4TB, making it a flexible way to reuse a spare SSD or build high-speed portable storage. An IP55-rated aluminium body and internal thermal pad keep the drive cool and protected on the move. Typically in stock with fast delivery across Cyprus.
Compatibility & what's in the box
The Cobble houses a single M.2 SSD (NVMe PCIe or SATA, 2242/2260/2280) — it does not fit 2.5-inch SATA drives, and the SSD is sold separately. Real-world transfer speed is limited by the installed SSD and the host port; a USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 (10Gbps) port is needed for full speed. IP55 — protected against dust and low-pressure water jets from any direction, but not designed for submersion.
Key Features
10 Gbps USB-C
USB-C 3.2 Gen 2x1 delivers up to 10 Gbps, so a modern NVMe SSD inside behaves like fast portable storage for large files and backups.
NVMe & SATA in one
Accepts both M.2 NVMe (PCIe) and M.2 SATA SSDs in 2242/2260/2280 sizes up to 4TB — ideal for repurposing a spare drive.
Rugged & tool-free
Screw-free installation, an aluminium-alloy cover with a thermal pad for heat dissipation, and IP55 dust and water resistance for travel.

Singular Expert Insight
The Cobble stands out because it handles both NVMe and SATA M.2 drives, so it is a safe choice if you are not sure which SSD you will fit or want to reuse an older SATA module. If you only ever use NVMe and want the absolute lowest price, a plain NVMe-only caddy is cheaper — but you lose the IP55 protection and dual-protocol flexibility. Buyer's Guide
Buy it if
You have a spare M.2 SSD (NVMe or SATA) and want fast, rugged 10Gbps portable storage that survives travel.
Skip it if
You need to house a 2.5-inch SATA drive or want the cheapest possible NVMe-only caddy without IP55 protection.
Also consider
A tool-free NVMe-only USB-C enclosure if you exclusively use NVMe SSDs and prioritise price.
