ASUS ROG STRIX X870E-E GAMING WIFI7 NEO — AM5 ATX board with PCIe 5.0, two USB4 ports and Wi-Fi 7
AMD X870E · AM5PCIe 5.0 GPU + 2x M.22x USB4 40Gbps5GbE + Wi-Fi 7
The ASUS ROG STRIX X870E-E GAMING WIFI7 NEO is an AMD X870E ATX motherboard for socket AM5 with a PCIe 5.0 x16 graphics slot, five M.2 slots (two at PCIe 5.0) and two USB4 40Gbps ports, aimed at high-end gaming and creator builds on Ryzen 9000, 8000 and 7000 processors.
It has four DDR5 slots for up to 256GB, an 18+2+2 power stage design (110A stages for the CPU cores), Realtek 5Gb LAN, MediaTek Wi-Fi 7 with 320MHz channels, SupremeFX ALC4080 audio and the ROG Q-design toolset: PCIe Slot Q-Release, M.2 Q-Latch and Q-Slide, BIOS FlashBack and a 2-digit Q-Code display.
Before you order: Memory speeds above JEDEC (up to 8600+ MT/s OC with Ryzen 9000 per ASUS) depend on the CPU and memory kit; check the ASUS QVL or ask us. With some lower-tier Ryzen processors the x16 slot and CPU M.2 slots run at reduced PCIe generation or lanes.
What's in the Box
- ROG STRIX X870E-E GAMING WIFI7 NEO motherboard (I/O shield pre-mounted)
- ROG Wi-Fi Q-Antenna
- 2x SATA 6Gb/s cables
- DDR5 fan holder, 60 mm ROG assistant fan and cooling-kit screws
- M.2 Q-Latch and Q-Slide packages, 5x M.2 rubber pads
- Cable ties, ROG key chain, stickers, thank-you card, quick start guide
What It Means in Practice
- PCIe 5.0 for the graphics card and two NVMe SSDs gives headroom for current and next-generation hardware.
- Two rear USB4 ports run at 40Gbps and output video (DP Alt mode), useful for fast external SSDs and docks.
- 5GbE wired plus Wi-Fi 7 means no add-in network card is needed even for a fast NAS.
- Tool-less Q-designs make GPU and M.2 swaps quick, and BIOS FlashBack updates firmware without a CPU installed.
What Will Not Work
- It does not support AM4 processors or DDR4 memory.
- The front-panel case headers need USB 20Gbps Type-C support on the case to use the full front speed.
- The board has one HDMI output; display through USB4 or HDMI needs a Ryzen CPU with integrated graphics.
- The third M.2 slot shares bandwidth with the second x16-size slot, so you cannot use both at full speed.

Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
This is a top-end AM5 board for builders who want PCIe 5.0 storage, USB4 and fast networking without add-in cards. Pair it with a fast DDR5 kit from our
memory range and plan airflow over the M.2 area if you use two PCIe 5.0 SSDs.
✓ Buy it if you are building a high-end Ryzen 9000 or 7000 system and want PCIe 5.0, USB4 and 5GbE.
✕ Skip it if you are on AM4/DDR4 or do not need PCIe 5.0 and USB4 (a B850 board costs less).
→ Also consider a DDR5 EXPO kit and a PCIe 5.0 NVMe SSD to use the board fully.
