ASUS TUF Gaming VG279QM5F — 27" Full HD Fast IPS at 260Hz
260Hz (OC) via DisplayPort27" Fast IPS · 99% sRGBG-SYNC Compatible · FreeSync Premium2x HDMI 2.1 · DP 1.4
The ASUS TUF Gaming VG279QM5F is a 27-inch Full HD Fast IPS gaming monitor that overclocks to 260Hz with a 0.3ms minimum response time, aimed at players who want a bigger screen while keeping the very high frame rates that 1080p makes possible.
Because it stays at 1920 x 1080, your graphics card renders the same number of pixels as on a 24-inch screen, so frame rates stay high. The trade-off is pixel density: about 82 PPI, which looks softer for text and spreadsheets than a 1440p panel of the same size.
Before you order: The full 260Hz needs DisplayPort; HDMI tops out at 255Hz and ASUS states its HDMI 2.1 (TMDS) has HDMI 2.0 bandwidth. A DisplayPort cable is included, an HDMI cable is not.
What's in the Box
- ASUS TUF Gaming VG279QM5F monitor with tilt stand
- DisplayPort cable
- Power cord
- L-shaped screwdriver
- Quick start guide and warranty card
- No HDMI cable is included
What It Means in Practice
- Use DisplayPort from your gaming PC for 260Hz; the two HDMI inputs suit a second PC or a console
- G-SYNC Compatible and FreeSync Premium keep motion tear-free on NVIDIA and AMD cards
- ELMB Sync reduces motion blur while variable refresh stays active
- 2W x 2 speakers are fine for system sounds; plug a headset into the 3.5mm jack for gaming audio
- If you mostly work with text or spreadsheets, a 27-inch 1440p model will look noticeably sharper
What Will Not Work
- Tilt-only stand (+20° / -5°): no height, swivel or pivot — add a VESA 100 x 100 arm for height adjustment
- No USB-C input and no USB hub
- HDMI does not reach 260Hz and has no FRL, so consoles stay at their own limits
- No DisplayHDR certification: HDR10 signal support with 300 nits brightness

Frequently Asked Questions
Is 1080p on a 27-inch screen sharp enough?
For fast games at a normal desk distance it works well; for text-heavy work a 1440p 27-inch monitor is sharper.
Do I need DisplayPort?
Only for the full 260Hz. HDMI still runs up to 255Hz, and the DP cable is included.
Does it have built-in speakers?
Yes, 2W x 2 — useful for system sounds, but a headset is better for games.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
The VG279QM5F is the bigger-screen version of the TUF 260Hz Full HD panel: same speed, same inputs, just more screen at the same frame-rate cost. Choose it if your priority is frame rate on a larger panel; choose a 1440p model if you also work on it all day. See our
PC monitor range for alternatives.
✓ Buy it if you want a 27-inch esports monitor and your PC pushes very high frame rates at 1080p.
✕ Skip it if you need sharp text for office work or a height-adjustable stand.
→ Also consider the 23.8" VG249QM5F for higher pixel density, or the TUF Gaming VG27AQ5F 27" 1440p.
