The Vigour is the smartest-looking bag in ASUS's accessory range and, at 750 grams, one of the lightest 16-inch backpacks you can buy. The exterior is water-repellent, scratch-resistant PU leather; the interior combines PU leather with rPET fabric made from recycled plastic bottles. ASUS puts it through in-house tests it describes as military grade - crocking, abrasion, water repellence, pressure and thermal shock - and gives it a flat, wide base so it stands upright instead of folding over when you put it down.
Compatibility — check before buying:
ASUS rates it for 16" laptops, with a laptop compartment of 249 x 25 x 355 mm. That 25 mm depth is the limit worth checking against a thicker machine. ASUS publishes no larger size and makes no 17" claim anywhere. There is no separate tablet pocket published. A note on the name: ASUS itself calls this simply the "ASUS Vigour Backpack" - the "16" in most listings, including ours, comes from distributor catalogues rather than ASUS. Note too that ASUS publishes no capacity in litres for this bag, so we have left that row blank.

Water-repellent, scratch-resistant PU leather
ASUS describes a water-repellent PU leather construction with water-repellent lightweight YKK zips. Note this is repellent, not waterproof, and no IP rating is published.
rPET interior
The interior combines PU leather with rPET fabric made from recycled plastic bottles. ASUS publishes production savings rather than a recycled percentage - 100 g of plastic saved per backpack, 80 percent less energy, 54 percent less water and 76 percent less CO2 during production of the rPET fabric.
Military-grade in-house testing
ASUS lists the tests it runs: crocking, abrasion resistance, water repellence, pressure and thermal shock. It is a more specific durability claim than most bag makers offer.
Magnetic front pocket and hidden rear pocket
A magnetic front pocket that opens one-handed, additional concealed pockets, and a hidden pocket on the rear panel for quick access to a phone or a card.
Umbrella and bottle pockets
ASUS specifies pockets for an umbrella and a water bottle, which keeps a wet umbrella out of the main compartment.

Singular Expert Insight
The Vigour is best understood as a design-first bag that happens to be very light. ASUS is unusually specific about its durability testing and about the rPET fabric, but noticeably silent on the things buyers often assume: there is no published capacity in litres, no warranty duration, no trolley pass-through and no recycled percentage. We have left all of those as "not published" rather than fill them from a catalogue. One genuine pitfall: ASUS's own product page carries no part number, and the ASUS accessory range includes several black 16-inch water-repellent backpacks. Tell them apart by weight - the Vigour is 0.75 kg with a 249 x 25 x 355 mm laptop compartment, while the Nereus is 0.32 kg in plain polyester. Anything quoting 0.32 kg is a different bag.

And be aware ASUS publishes no capacity in litres and no warranty duration for this product, only that a warranty booklet ships in the box.
