The ASUSTOR Drivestor 4 Gen2 (AS1204T) is a 4-bay NAS for homes and small offices, powered by a Realtek RTD1619B quad-core 1.7GHz processor with 1GB DDR4 memory and a 2.5-Gigabit Ethernet port, for shared storage, PC backups and media streaming with drive-failure protection.
With four bays it supports RAID 5, RAID 6 and RAID 10, so you can balance capacity and protection — and add drives later as your data grows. ASUSTOR's ADM operating system handles file sharing, backups and 10-bit 4K H.265 transcoding for smooth playback on TVs and phones.
Before you order: The NAS is supplied without drives — add 3.5" SATA hard drives (at least three for RAID 5, four for RAID 6/10). Full 2.5GbE speed needs 2.5GbE ports on your switch/router and PC; on a Gigabit network it runs at 1Gbps.

What It Means in Practice
- RAID 5 with four drives gives the capacity of three and survives one drive failure; RAID 6 survives two.
- 2.5GbE delivers roughly 2.5× Gigabit speed for large file copies when the network supports it.
- USB 5Gbps ports let you back up the NAS to an external drive.
- Memory is 1GB and cannot be upgraded — fine for files, backups and media, not for virtual machines.
What Will Not Work
- M.2 SSD caching — there are no M.2 slots, and ASUSTOR lists 3.5" SATA HDDs for the bays.
- Memory upgrades or PCIe expansion cards — neither is available.
- 10GbE networking — the single network port is 2.5GbE.
- HDMI output for direct TV connection — there is no HDMI port.

The AS1204T is the more future-proof Drivestor: four bays make RAID 5 or RAID 6 possible, so you get both capacity and real protection, and 2.5GbE keeps transfers quick. A NAS is still not a backup on its own — keep a copy of critical data elsewhere. Choose matching disks from our NAS hard drives.
