Axis A1210 Network Door Controller — Edge Access Control for One Door
1 doorOSDP + WiegandPoE Class 4 or 12 VWall or DIN rail
The Axis A1210 Network Door Controller (02368-001) is a compact, edge-based access control unit that manages one door: it reads card or PIN readers, drives the lock and checks door sensors, and takes the access decision locally. It suits offices, server rooms, shops and small sites that want network access control without a central panel.
Because credentials and rules are stored on the controller itself, the door keeps working if the network or server goes down. It powers from a PoE Class 4 switch port or 12 V DC, supports up to two OSDP readers (or one Wiegand reader), and integrates with AXIS Camera Station as well as third-party systems through VAPIX and ACAP. It mounts on a wall plate or a DIN rail and is plenum rated.
Before you order: This is the controller only. A complete door also needs a reader, a lock, a door position switch and a request-to-exit device, plus PoE Class 4 or a 12 V supply. Locks drawing more than the controller budget need their own power supply.
What's in the Box
- 1 × AXIS A1210 Network Door Controller (white, NCS S 1002-B)
- Mounted connector kit
- Grounding kit
- Cable ties
- Installation guide
What It Means in Practice
- One network cable can power the controller, the reader and a typical 12 V lock on PoE, which simplifies cabling at the door.
- Access decisions are made at the door, so staff can still enter during a network or server outage.
- Paired with AXIS Camera Station you can link door events to video and check who opened the door.
- Up to 250,000 credentials and 250,000 events are stored locally on the controller.
What Will Not Work
- It controls one door only; a second door needs a second controller.
- It supports only one Wiegand reader; two readers on the same door need OSDP.
- It has no published IP or IK rating, so it must be installed indoors or in a protective enclosure.
- Readers, locks, credentials and the power supply are not included.
Key Features
Edge-based decisions
Rules and credentials live on the controller, so the door works offline.
Modern reader support
OSDP with Secure Channel (Secure Profile verified) on RS485 up to 1000 m, or Wiegand up to 150 m.
Flexible power
PoE IEEE 802.3at Class 4 or 12 V DC, with lock output switchable 12 V / 24 V.
Built-in cybersecurity
Axis Edge Vault with a CC EAL 6+ secure element, secure boot, signed firmware, 802.1X and TLS 1.3.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which readers should I pair with it?
Axis recommends its A4030-E, A4130-E and A4131-E (keypad) readers. Third-party OSDP or Wiegand readers also work; tell us the model and we will check.
Can PoE power my lock too?
Yes, within the budget: up to 900 mA at 12 V on PoE. Larger maglocks or 24 V locks drawing more need the 12 V DC input or a separate lock supply.
Does it work without AXIS Camera Station?
Yes. It can run on its own or with third-party access control software that supports Axis via VAPIX or ACAP.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
An edge controller per door scales neatly: add doors one at a time, each on its own PoE port, with no central panel to outgrow. Plan the lock current first, because it decides whether PoE alone is enough. To link doors with video, see our
IP cameras.
✓ Buy it if you need network access control for one door with OSDP readers and PoE power.
✕ Skip it if you need several doors from one panel, or an outdoor-rated controller without an enclosure.
→ Also consider AXIS A4130-E or A4131-E readers, a PoE Class 4 switch and a door position sensor.
