The BlueOptics 10338-BO is a copper SFP+ module that turns an SFP+ slot into a 10GBASE-T RJ-45 port, reaching up to 30 m on Cat6A or Cat7 cable. It is the BlueOptics BO08J78S6 module coded as Extreme Networks 10338, so Extreme switches that check optics accept it, and its RJ-45 side can also negotiate 5G, 2.5G and 1G with the device at the other end. In practice, a copper module is the quickest way to connect a nearby device that only has an RJ-45 port, without buying a media converter. Use fibre for anything beyond the copper reach shown in the table.
Compatibility — check before buying:
The reach is 30 m, not the 100 m of a built-in 10GBASE-T port, and it needs at least Cat6A. BlueOptics lists 1G, 2.5G and 5G on the RJ-45 side while the switch side always runs 10GBASE-R, so whether a slower device works depends on the switch — send us the model. The module draws up to 2.5 W; some switches limit how many copper modules can sit side by side. It is coded for Extreme Networks; for Cisco switches the SFP-10G-T-BO and for NETGEAR the AXM765-BO are the same hardware with different coding. Not sure?
