The BlueOptics SFP-25G-LR-BO is a 25 Gbit SFP28 transceiver for single-mode fibre, reaching up to 10 km at 1310 nm over a duplex LC connection, with digital diagnostics. It is programmed with the coding of the Cisco SFP-25G-LR, so Cisco switches that expect this coding identify it as that part. BlueOptics backs it with a 5-year functional warranty. In practice, single-mode optics are the choice when a link leaves the building or runs several hundred metres: the OS2 fibre used by carriers and campus backbones carries the signal for kilometres with little loss. Before you order, confirm the fibre is single-mode at both ends and note the length and the number of patch panels on the way.

Compatibility — check before buying:
Cisco’s current 25G LR part is the SFP-10/25G-LR-S, and BlueOptics sells a separate SFP-25G-LR-S-BO with that coding. Check the part your switch expects before you order. BlueOptics publishes it as a 25G module and does not publish a 10G mode or a FEC setting, so do not plan it for a 10G-only SFP+ port. Keep the dust cap on until you connect the fibre, and clean both connector ends before every mating — dirt is the most common cause of a link that will not come up. Not sure? Does it run at 10G?
BlueOptics publishes this module for 25GBASE-LR only and does not list a 10G rate. If the port or the far end runs at 10G, tell us and we find the right module.
SFP-25G-LR-BO or SFP-25G-LR-S-BO?
They are two BlueOptics codings of 25G LR optics. Cisco’s current part is the SFP-10/25G-LR-S. Send us the switch model and software version, or the label of the optic you replace, and we supply the matching coding.
Are fibre patch cords included?
No. You get 1 module. The patch cord for the Duplex LC/UPC connector, a matching module for the far end of the link and a fibre cleaning tool are bought separately. Tell us the distance and the fibre type and we quote the right cord.
Will it work in a switch from another brand?
BlueOptics programs each module with the coding of the original part it replaces. A host from another brand may reject it or show an “unsupported transceiver” message when the coding does not match — send us the switch or server model and we check it before you order.
