The Brodit 511600 is a passive (non-charging) vehicle holder with a tilt-swivel ball joint, made to hold an Apple iPad 9.7" 5th or 6th generation, or a first-generation iPad Air, while the tablet is inside an OtterBox Defender case. It is used in delivery vans, service vehicles, taxis and forklifts where the tablet stays in its rugged case all day.
The holder is shaped around the Defender case, so the tablet slides in and out without removing the protection. The ball joint tilts 15° in every direction to angle the screen away from glare, and the holder rotates between portrait and landscape.
Before you order: This holder fits ONLY an iPad 9.7" (5th gen 2017, 6th gen 2018) or iPad Air (1st gen) that is inside an OtterBox Defender case. It will not hold a bare iPad, an iPad in any other case, or newer iPad models. A Brodit ProClip vehicle mount for your car model is also needed.

What It Means in Practice
- Fit a Brodit ProClip mount for your vehicle model to the dashboard first, then screw the holder onto it.
- Slide the iPad in its OtterBox Defender into the holder; the case stays on all the time.
- Tilt the holder up to 15° in any direction to cut reflections and face the driver.
- Rotate between portrait for navigation and landscape for forms or video.
What Will Not Work
- It does not charge the iPad — it is a passive holder with no cable or connector.
- It will not hold a bare iPad or an iPad in any case other than the OtterBox Defender.
- It does not fit the iPad 7th–10th generation, iPad Air 2 or later, or any iPad Pro.
- It cannot be mounted in a vehicle without a Brodit ProClip (sold separately).
