The Brother RuggedJet RJ-4230B is a 4-inch mobile direct thermal printer for labels, tags and receipts beside the item or customer. Bluetooth 4.2, USB and NFC support compatible handheld or computer workflows. It prints heat-sensitive media without ribbon and includes an LCD, IP54-rated rubber housing and manufacturer-rated 2.1 m drop protection. Wi-Fi is not fitted.

Before you order:
Brother lists the smart Li-ion battery and power/charging accessories as optional. Arrange the appropriate battery and charging method, suitable thermal media and a compatible application before use. NFC assists pairing; it does not replace a printing app. Linerless printing needs the optional configuration.

What It Means in Practice

  • For example, a delivery application sends a receipt over Bluetooth; the printer produces it on suitable thermal stock and the operator tears it off. The application provides customer/order data; the printer does not manage orders by itself.
  • IP54 and the rubber housing suit mobile work with dust and splash exposure. They do not make the printer suitable for immersion. The 850 g weight reference includes a battery.

What Will Not Work

  • Choose a different model if you need Wi-Fi or thermal-transfer ribbon printing.
  • Do not assume a ready-to-charge battery bundle; optional linerless operation is limited to 76 mm/s.
