The Brother TD-4420TN (TD4420TNZ1) is a 4-inch thermal transfer desktop label printer for retail, logistics, healthcare and manufacturing teams that print durable barcode, product and shipping labels.
It prints at 203 dpi up to 108 mm wide and 152.4 mm/s, takes 300 m or 110 m ribbons, and connects over USB 2.0, USB host, 10/100 Ethernet, RS-232. FBPL-EZD emulates EPL, ZPL II and DPL, so it can replace Zebra or Datamax printers without new formats.

What It Means in Practice
- Thermal transfer: with a wax, wax/resin or resin ribbon (300 m on 1-inch core or 110 m on ½-inch core, ink outside), labels resist heat, abrasion and sunlight.
- Media: labels 20–112 mm wide and 0.06–0.19 mm thick on rolls up to 127 mm diameter, 25.4 or 38 mm core.
- Speed: up to 152.4 mm/s at 203 dpi for everyday shipping and product labels.
- Drop-in replacement: FBPL-EZD (EPL, ZPL II, DPL) and FBPL-EZS (EPL, ZPL II, SBPL) run label formats written for Zebra, Datamax and SATO printers.
- Connectivity: USB 2.0, USB host, 10/100 Ethernet, RS-232; the USB host port takes a keyboard or scanner for standalone printing.
- Operation: a status LED and simple controls keep day-to-day use straightforward.
What Will Not Work
- Cutting or peeling: tear-off as supplied; cutter and peeler are factory/dealer options.
- Wi-Fi or Bluetooth: not included in this model; choose a TD-4 WB model for wireless.
- Very small print: 203 dpi only; choose a 300 dpi TD-4 model for tiny text.
- Wide labels: 6-inch labels need an industrial printer.
