Datalogic CAB-362 Coiled RS-232 Cable, 9-Pin Female, External Power, 6 ft
RS-232 serialDB9 femaleCoiled, 6 ft (1.8 m)External power
The Datalogic CAB-362 (90A051330) is a coiled RS-232 serial cable, 6 ft (1.8 m), with a 9-pin female D-sub (DB9) host connector, for Gryphon 4200, 4500, 4600, QuickScan 2100 and Heron HD3100 handheld scanners connected to a PC or POS COM port.
Datalogic specifies it as an External Power cable: the scanner is not powered through the serial port, so a separate power supply has to be connected. The coiled section keeps the counter tidy and stretches when the operator lifts the scanner.
Before you order: This cable needs an external power supply, which is not included. If you do not already have one for this scanner, tell us the scanner model and we will match the right Datalogic supply, or suggest the CAB-408 variant (90A051891) that can also take power from pin 9 of the host port.
What's in the Box
- 1 × Datalogic CAB-362 coiled RS-232 cable, 9-pin female, 6 ft (90A051330)
What It Means in Practice
- Connects a supported Gryphon, QuickScan 2100 or Heron scanner to a 9-pin male COM port on a PC, POS or industrial terminal.
- Keeps serial-only POS software and legacy terminals working with current Datalogic handhelds.
- The coil retracts at rest and extends during scanning, so there is no slack cable on the counter.
- The scanner must be set to RS-232 mode using the programming barcodes in its Datalogic guide.
What Will Not Work
- Will not power the scanner by itself: a separate power supply is required.
- Will not connect to USB or PS/2 keyboard ports.
- Not the 25-pin or male 9-pin versions (Datalogic sells those as separate cables, e.g. CAB-363, CAB-389).
- Not listed for Magellan, PowerScan or QuickScan 2200/2500 scanners.
Key Features
Female DB9 host plug
Fits directly onto the standard 9-pin male COM port found on PCs, POS terminals and many industrial controllers.
External power design
Scanner power comes from its own supply, which avoids relying on hosts that do not provide power on the serial port.
Coiled 6 ft cable
A compact coil that gives reach while keeping the checkout or workbench clear.
Shared across families
Listed by Datalogic for five handheld scanner families, useful when a site mixes Gryphon, QuickScan and Heron models.

Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
With serial scanners the deciding detail is power: some hosts supply 5 V on pin 9, most PCs do not. Choosing between an External Power cable and a pin-9 cable before ordering saves a second trip. For other connections around the workstation, see our cables range.
✓ Buy it if Buy it if you connect a Gryphon 4200, 4500, 4600, QuickScan 2100 or Heron HD3100 to a 9-pin COM port and have, or will add, an external power supply.
✕ Skip it if Skip it if you want the host to power the scanner through the serial port, or if your POS uses USB.
→ Also consider Also consider 90A051891 (CAB-408, coiled, power on pin 9 or external) or 90G000008 (CAB-327, straight, external power).
