Cablexpert CCP-USB3-AMCM-1M USB-A to USB-C Cable — 5 Gbit/s, 1 m
USB 3.2 Gen 15 Gbit/s3 A (36 W)1 m
The Cablexpert CCP-USB3-AMCM-1M is a 1 m USB-A to USB-C cable with up to 5 Gbit/s (USB 3.2 Gen 1) data transfer and charging output up to 3 A (36 W) per Gembird, made for anyone connecting a USB-C phone, tablet, drive or accessory to a computer, charger, car socket or hub that has USB-A ports.
At 5 Gbit/s the cable is fast enough for external hard drives, SATA SSD enclosures, USB 3 card readers and most portable storage, so backups and large copies run at the speed of the drive rather than being held back by the cable.
Before you order, check two things: the socket on your device must be USB-C (not Micro-USB or Lightning), and the port you plug into must be USB-A. If both your charger and your device are USB-C, a USB-C to USB-C cable is the better buy because it supports USB Power Delivery.
Before you order: USB-A carries no USB Power Delivery and no video. Gembird rates the cable for 3 A (36 W); the actual charging speed depends on the USB-A charger and the phone — most USB-A ports deliver far less.
What's in the Box
- 1 × Cablexpert USB 3.2 AM to Type-C cable, 1 m, black (polybag)
What It Means in Practice
- Length 1 m: the everyday desk length — reaches from a computer or charger to a device on the same desk or bedside table.
- Charging: charging output up to 3 A (36 W) per Gembird — enough for phones, tablets, earbuds and controllers from a standard USB-A charger or computer port.
- Works with wall chargers, PCs, laptops, car sockets, power banks and USB hubs that have USB-A ports.
- Plug-and-play: no driver needed on Windows, macOS, Linux, ChromeOS, Android or iPadOS.
What Will Not Work
- No video: it will not drive a USB-C monitor, portable display or projector — USB-A has no DisplayPort Alt Mode.
- No USB Power Delivery: a USB-C laptop that needs 45–100 W will charge very slowly or not at all from a USB-A port through this cable.
- Not a Thunderbolt or USB4 cable, and it will not turn a USB-A port into a USB-C port for USB-C-only chargers.
- Do not order it by mistake instead of the white version (CCP-USB3-AMCM-1M-W).

Frequently Asked Questions
Will it fast-charge my USB-C laptop?
Usually not. Laptops charge over USB Power Delivery, which needs a USB-C charger and a USB-C to USB-C cable. From a USB-A port you get standard USB charging, which can at best slow the battery drain on some laptops.
Does it work with an iPhone 15 or newer?
Yes — iPhone 15 and later use USB-C, so the cable charges and syncs them from a USB-A charger, computer or car socket at standard USB speed.
Will it work in a USB 2.0 or USB 3 port?
Yes. USB is backward compatible: the cable works in any USB-A port and the connection runs at the slower of the port, cable and device speeds.
Can I use it in the car?
Yes, in any USB-A car socket or 12 V USB-A adapter. Charging speed depends on the socket: many built-in car ports give only 0.5–1 A.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
This is the useful all-rounder: 5 Gbit/s for drives and card readers, and a 3 A rating for normal phone charging, in the standard 1 m length. Gold-plated contacts and moulded strain reliefs help it survive daily plugging. If you are pairing it with storage, match the cable to the drive — see our
external hard drives.
✓ Buy it if you want one 1 m cable for both a USB-C drive and phone charging from USB-A.
✕ Skip it if you need 10 Gbit/s for an NVMe SSD or laptop charging.
→ Also consider For a USB-C laptop or a USB-C charger, a USB-C to USB-C cable with Power Delivery; for drives, match the cable speed to the drive.
