The CHERRY KC 1000 SC (JK-A0100EU-2) puts the card reader inside the keyboard, which is the whole point: no second box on the desk, no separate USB cable, and nothing for a user to unplug and lose. The integrated PC/SC reader reads and writes ISO 7816-compliant smart cards and supports the T=0, T=1, S=8, S=9 and S=10 protocols, and the keyboard meets FIPS-201, which is what qualifies it for government and healthcare card programmes. Around the reader is a full office keyboard: 105 keys plus 4, with a proper numeric pad, in a 458 × 188 × 46 mm body. It connects with a single USB 2.0 cable and CHERRY supplies drivers for Windows, macOS and Linux. In the box: keyboard with USB cable and documentation.
Compatibility — check before buying:
Layout: US International QWERTY is the layout most people in Cyprus type on: wide Enter key, @ above 2. If your current keyboard is UK layout, the Enter key changes shape and a few symbols move, but letters and numbers are identical. The card slot takes ISO 7816 contact smart cards — the standard ID, health, banking and corporate access card format. It is a contact reader, so contactless and NFC cards will not work; if your cards are tap-only, tell us and we will supply a contactless reader instead. It is wired over USB 2.0 Type-A with a fixed cable — a USB-C-only laptop needs an adapter or a dock. Every KC 1000 SC part number includes the reader; the differences between them are layout and colour, not features. There is no backlight and no palm rest. CHERRY lists Windows and Linux and supplies drivers for Windows, macOS and Linux. CHERRY does not publish a cable length or a weight for this model.
