CHERRY G84-5500 XS — Compact Keyboard with Integrated Touchpad, Swiss, Black
Touchpad + 2 buttonsCHERRY ML 20M strokes374 mm, 18 mm highUSB wired
The CHERRY G84-5500 XS (G84-5500LUMCH-2) is a compact 88-key industrial keyboard with an integrated touchpad and two mouse buttons, so one 374 mm wide device replaces keyboard and mouse at a point-of-sale counter, in a 19-inch rack drawer, on a medical cart or in any workstation where a mouse has no room. Every key is a CHERRY ML mechanical switch with gold crosspoint contacts rated for more than 20 million strokes. This part number is the Swiss layout in Black. It is a wired USB keyboard: in the box you get the keyboard, the mounting feet and the manual, and it works with the standard Windows drivers.
Compatibility — check before buying:
This is a 75% compact keyboard: no numeric keypad, and the touchpad sits where the numpad would be. CHERRY sells the same chassis as the G84-5500 XS (touchpad) and the G84-5400 XS (trackball) — this is the touchpad version. Layout: Swiss QWERTZ swaps Y and Z, puts ü/ö/ä (and è/é/à) on the keys right of P and L, and moves most symbols compared with a US or UK keyboard. Choose it only if you type in Swiss German or French; for English use in Cyprus ask us for the US or UK version of the same model. Colour code: part numbers ending -0 are light grey, -2 are black; this one is Black. Connection is USB-A only (no Bluetooth, no wireless). CHERRY lists Windows as the supported operating system; the keyboard follows standard USB HID, so it will type on other systems, but CHERRY KEYS software is Windows only.
Best For
✓ POS counters, kiosks and reception desks with no room for a mouse
✓ 19-inch rack drawers and server rooms — 374 × 139 mm footprint
✓ Industrial and lab workstations that need a keyboard to last for years
✓ Medical carts and shared PCs in clinical areas (wipe-clean flat design)
✓ KVM consoles where one USB device must do keyboard and pointer
✓ Replacing a worn-out compact keyboard on an existing installation
Key Features
CHERRY ML mechanical keys
Each key has its own CHERRY ML switch with gold crosspoint contacts — the same technology CHERRY uses in its industrial keyboards for decades — rated for over 20 million actuations. Keys feel precise and consistent even after years of continuous use.
Integrated touchpad
A touchpad with two mouse buttons sits to the right of the key field, so cursor control needs no desk space at all. Flat and easy to wipe clean.
Built for restricted spaces
Only 18 mm high and 374 mm wide, with the standardised dimensions of the whole CHERRY XS family, so it drops into 19-inch drawers and existing mounts. Adjustable, detachable feet let you set the typing angle or lie it flat.
Programmable, plug and play
Keys can be reprogrammed with CHERRY KEYS on Windows; the keyboard supports Code Set 3 and UnifiedPOS for retail systems and needs no driver to start working.

Singular Expert Insight
Inside CHERRY’s XS family, pick the G84-5500 XS touchpad when the keyboard lies flat on a counter or in a drawer and must be wiped clean quickly. The G84-4400 is the older, slightly smaller trackball compact for existing installations. See our full keyboards range and our QWERTZ keyboards, and tell us the layout and colour you need — the part number encodes both.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You need one wired USB device that does keyboard and cursor in 374 × 139 mm, CHERRY ML keys rated for 20 million strokes, the Swiss layout and the Black finish.
Skip it if
You need a numeric keypad, wireless or Bluetooth, backlighting, or a different layout or colour — every one of those is a different part number.
Also consider
CHERRY G84-5400 XS (optical trackball, same size, 20 mm high) or the older CHERRY G84-4400 compact trackball keyboard.
