Cisco GLC-T-RGD= — Rugged Gigabit RJ-45 SFP
1000BASE-TRJ-45Up to 100 m−40 to 85 °C
The Cisco GLC-T-RGD= is a ruggedised 1000BASE-T SFP module that turns an SFP port into a Gigabit RJ-45 copper port, reaching up to 100 m on Category 5 cable. It is rated for an industrial −40 to 85 °C range, so it suits Cisco switches in street cabinets, factories, substations and other harsh locations. In practice, a copper module is the quickest way to connect a nearby device that only has an RJ-45 port, without buying a media converter. Use fibre for anything beyond the copper reach shown in the table.
Compatibility — check before buying:
Cisco states its 1000BASE-T SFPs support 10/100/1000 auto-negotiation, but whether 10/100 works depends on the host switch and software — Cisco refers to its compatibility matrix. It needs an SFP port that accepts 1G modules. For switches in air-conditioned rooms, the GLC-TE is the extended-temperature sibling; this RGD version is rated −40 to 85 °C for industrial cabinets. Not sure? Send us your device model and the cable run and we check it before you order.
Best For
✓ Industrial Cisco switches in cabinets
✓ Factory floors and plant rooms
✓ Outdoor and roadside installations
✓ Copper links from SFP ports
✓ Cameras and controllers near the switch
✓ Replacing a failed rugged copper SFP
Key Features
Built for harsh sites
Industrial temperature rating from −40 to 85 °C, for switches in street cabinets, plant rooms and on factory floors.
Copper instead of fibre
Turns an SFP or SFP+ cage into an RJ-45 port, so the switch can reach a server, NAS, camera recorder or other device over twisted-pair cable. Check the cable grade and reach in the table before you plan the run.
Hot-swappable
Modules plug into a live port without shutting the switch down, so a link can be added or replaced during working hours. Seat it until it clicks and use the latch to remove it.
Plan both ends together
A link only comes up when both ends use the same standard, speed and media. Order the far-end module, the cable and any spares in one go and the link works on day one.

Singular Expert Insight
We recommend the GLC-T-RGD= for copper links on Cisco industrial switches, where temperatures leave commercial optics out of spec. If the far end is an older 10/100 device, send us the switch model first so we can confirm the lower speeds are supported on that host. Every order is backed by Singular’s local support in Cyprus — if a link will not come up, send us the port status and we help you find out whether it is the module, the cable or the configuration. Browse all transceivers and DAC cables or the switches they plug into.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You need a Gigabit RJ-45 port from an SFP slot on a Cisco switch in a harsh or unheated location.
Skip it if
The switch sits in a climate-controlled room (GLC-TE is enough), or the run is longer than 100 m.
Also consider
Cisco GLC-TE for extended-temperature copper links.
