Cisco CP-8832-POE= — PoE Adapter for the IP Conference Phone 8832
Cisco 8832 onlyPoE switch poweredUSB-C to phoneWorldwide
The Cisco CP-8832-POE= is the worldwide PoE adapter for the Cisco IP Conference Phone 8832: it connects to a Power over Ethernet switch port and carries both network and power to the phone over a single USB-C cable, so the conference phone in the middle of the table needs no wall outlet. It is meant for IT teams and offices that run, or are replacing parts on, an 8832 on a PoE network.
The Cisco 8832 base has no RJ45 port of its own. Every wired 8832 needs one of Cisco's adapters between the phone and the network, and this is the one to use when the switch port supplies PoE. Cisco ships the 8832 with one adapter of your choice; this part is the spare or replacement for the PoE option, or the way to move an existing 8832 onto a PoE switch.
Before you order: This adapter only works on a PoE switch port (IEEE 802.3af or 802.3at). If your switch has no PoE, you need the Cisco CP-8832-ETH-WW= Ethernet adapter instead, which is powered from a wall outlet. For a Wi-Fi-only 8832, the matching part is CP-8832-PWR-WW=.
What's in the Box
- Cisco PoE adapter for the IP Conference Phone 8832 (worldwide version)
- USB-C cable to connect the adapter to the phone (Cisco states every 8832 adapter kit includes a USB-C cable)
- No Ethernet patch cable is listed by Cisco — use your existing cable from the switch port
What It Means in Practice
- One cable runs across the table to the phone: the USB-C cable from the adapter. The adapter itself sits near the floor box, wall socket or under the table, connected to the PoE switch with a normal Ethernet cable.
- No power socket is needed at the meeting table, because the phone draws its power from the PoE switch through the adapter (Cisco lists the 8832 as IEEE PoE Class 3).
- The Ethernet run from the switch to the adapter can be up to the usual 100 m of a copper Ethernet link.
- Cisco's installation order: connect the adapter to the LAN first, then plug the USB-C cable into the phone.
What Will Not Work
- A switch port without PoE: the adapter does not have its own power input, so the phone will not start. Order CP-8832-ETH-WW= instead.
- Any Cisco phone other than the 8832 — the 7800 and 8800 desk phones have their own RJ45 ports and do not use this adapter.
- Wi-Fi-only installations: the PoE adapter is for wired networks; a Wi-Fi 8832 uses the CP-8832-PWR-WW= power adapter.
- Passive or non-standard PoE injectors and PoE sources that do not follow IEEE 802.3af/at.
Key Features
Single-cable table installation
Network and power travel to the phone on one USB-C cable, which keeps the conference table tidy and avoids an extension lead.
Uses existing PoE switch ports
Draws power from a standard 802.3af or 802.3at PoE switch, the same infrastructure that powers your desk phones and access points.
Worldwide version
No country-specific plug: the PoE adapter is powered entirely from the network, so the same part is used in every region.
Genuine Cisco spare
The part Cisco lists in the 8832 ordering table for PoE deployments, for replacing a damaged or lost adapter.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use this with a non-PoE switch and a separate PoE injector?
Cisco designs this adapter to be powered from a PoE switch port. If your switch has no PoE, Cisco's supported part is CP-8832-ETH-WW=, which takes power from a wall outlet. Ask us before combining third-party injectors.
Does it come with a USB-C cable?
Yes. Cisco states that each of its 8832 adapter kits includes a USB-C cable to the phone. A separate spare cable is sold as CP-8832-USB-CAB=.
Does the 8832 need this if it already came with an adapter?
No. The 8832 ships with one adapter of your choice. This part is for replacing that adapter or for switching an 8832 from a non-PoE setup to PoE.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
The 8832 is a rare Cisco phone that cannot be plugged straight into the network, so the right adapter matters more than usual. If the meeting room is fed by a
PoE switch, CP-8832-POE= is the cleanest option: one cable to the table, no power brick near the phone. Check the switch port first — a quick look at the switch model tells us whether it delivers 802.3af/at PoE.
✓ Buy it if you run a Cisco 8832 on a PoE switch and need a replacement or spare PoE adapter.
✕ Skip it if your switch has no PoE (choose CP-8832-ETH-WW=) or the phone is used on Wi-Fi only (choose CP-8832-PWR-WW=).
→ Also consider CP-8832-USB-CAB= if only the USB-C cable is damaged, or a PoE switch if your meeting room has no PoE port yet.
