The Cisco C9200-STACK-KIT= is the Catalyst 9200 stack kit: two data stack adapters and one 50 cm stacking cable that let modular Catalyst 9200 switches be joined into a StackWise-160 stack and managed as one switch.
It is for anyone who bought C9200 switches without stacking and now wants to stack them, or who is adding a switch to an existing C9200 stack.
Before you order: For modular C9200 models only (C9200-24T, 48T, 24P, 48P, 24PXG, 48PXG and similar). It does not work with C9200L — mixed C9200 and C9200L stacks are not supported — and C9200CX does not stack. All stack members must run the same license level.
What's in the Box
- 2 × C9200 data stack adapters
- 1 × STACK-T4-50CM stacking cable (50 cm)
- Torx T15 key for removing the stack-port blanks (per Cisco installation guide)
What It Means in Practice
- One kit equips one switch-to-switch link: install an adapter in each switch and connect them with the cable. For a ring of three or more switches you need adapters in every switch and enough cables to close the loop.
- StackWise-160 gives 160 Gbps of stack bandwidth, so up to 8 switches behave as one with a single IP address and one configuration.
- Switches ship with blanks in the stack ports; remove them with the Torx key and fit the adapters. Cisco advises powering off a switch before adding it to or removing it from a stack.
- Longer stacking cables (STACK-T4-1M, STACK-T4-3M) are sold separately for switches that are not mounted next to each other.
What Will Not Work
- It does not fit Catalyst 9200L, 9200CX, 9300 or 9300L switches.
- It does not let C9200 and C9200L switches stack together.
- The included 50 cm cable only reaches adjacent switches in the rack.
- Switches with different license levels will not form one stack.
