This is a third-party 10GBASE-SR transceiver in the X2 form factor, made as a compatible replacement for the Cisco X2-10GB-SR, carrying 10 Gigabit Ethernet over multimode fibre at 850 nm. It is meant for keeping existing Cisco switches with X2 slots in service — such as Catalyst 3560-E/3750-E models and X2 line cards on Catalyst 4500/6500 — at a lower cost than a genuine module.

Cisco ended sale of its X2 family in 2022, so compatible modules are now the practical way to replace a failed X2 optic or add a spare.

• 1× X2 10GBASE-SR transceiver module
• Fibre patch cords not included (multimode SC duplex, or SC-to-LC cords for LC panels)

• Reach on multimode fibre follows the 10GBASE-SR standard: about 26–33 m on OM1, 82 m on OM2 and 300 m on OM3.
• The far end can be any 10GBASE-SR module (SFP+, XFP, XENPAK or X2) on multimode fibre.
• The connector is SC duplex: if your patch panel is LC, use SC-to-LC multimode patch cords.
• A third-party module may show as non-Cisco in the switch log; most Catalyst X2 platforms accept it.
