The Club 3D CAC-1165 is a 1 m VESA-certified Mini DisplayPort 2.1 DP80 cable with Mini DP plugs on both ends, for connecting Mini DP sources to monitors, capture devices or KVMs that also use Mini DisplayPort. Part number CAC-1165 supports up to 80 Gbps (UHBR10/13.5/20), DSC 1.2 and Forward Error Correction for 4K240, 8K60 or 10K60.

New Mini DP 2.1 contacts are designed for UHBR speeds, and the soft UltraFlex coaxial jacket resists bending damage; Club 3D lists the cable as bidirectional.

Compatibility note: Both devices must have Mini DisplayPort; most monitors use full-size DP, in which case the CAC-1116 is the right cable. UHBR20 needs DP 2.1 on both ends, otherwise the link runs at DP 1.4 or lower rates. Club 3D’s product page lists 4K240 as max resolution; its datasheet also lists 8K60 and 10K60.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use the Club 3D CAC-1165 to connect a GPU to a normal DisplayPort monitor?
Only if the monitor has a Mini DP input. For a standard full-size DisplayPort input choose the Club 3D CAC-1116, which has Mini DP on one end and latching DP on the other.
Is the CAC-1165 backwards compatible with Mini DP 1.2 and 1.4 devices?
Yes. The cable works with older Mini DisplayPort versions; bandwidth is then limited to what the source and display negotiate, for example HBR3 32.4 Gbps on DP 1.4.
