Conceptronic C4PUSB3 — 4-Port USB 3.0 Hub with a Power Jack

4 x USB-A at 5 Gbps5 V DC jack for extra current15 cm cable35 g

The Conceptronic C4PUSB3 turns one USB-A port into four, at up to 5 Gbps. What separates it from the many hubs that do exactly that is the socket on the side: a 5 V DC jack that lets you feed the hub externally when four devices ask for more current than the computer will give. The body is 101 mm long in black, weighs 35 g and connects on a 15 cm cable.

Compatibility — check before buying:
The plug is USB-A. Conceptronic sells the visually identical CTC4USB3 with a USB-C plug instead — same body, same four ports, same power jack, and a hub that will not fit your machine if you order the wrong one. This page is the USB-A version. No mains adapter is supplied: the box holds a USB-DC power cable, which lets you feed the jack from another USB port or a phone charger, but a dedicated mains supply for the jack is a separate purchase. The jack is 3.5 x 1.35 mm. Conceptronic states Power Delivery is not supported, so the hub cannot charge a laptop, and there is no video output and no Ethernet. The published operating systems are Windows XP through 10 and macOS 10.6 or newer.

Best For

✓ Desktops and laptops that have run out of USB-A ports
✓ Desks where devices sometimes draw more than the host port gives
✓ Flash drives, card readers, keyboards, mice and dongles
✓ A bus-powered 2.5-inch drive with the jack fed externally
✓ Towers under a desk and shared workstations
✓ Anyone who wants the option of extra power later

Key Features

A power jack, not just bus power
Most hubs of this size give you whatever the host port can spare and nothing more. The 3.5 x 1.35 mm DC jack means a device that keeps dropping out can be fixed by adding current rather than by buying a different hub.

Four ports at 5 Gbps
USB 3.2 Gen 1 SuperSpeed on all four sockets, backward compatible with USB 2.0 devices. The bandwidth is shared, so one drive at a time reaches the full rate.

Compact and light
23.5 x 101 x 26 mm and 35 g with a 15 cm captive cable. It sits close to the machine rather than sprawling across the desk, and travels without adding bulk.

Nothing to install
Plug and play on Windows back to XP and macOS 10.6 upwards. The box holds the hub, the USB-DC power cable and a multilingual quick installation guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it come with a power supply?
No mains adapter. What is in the box is a USB-DC cable, so you can feed the jack from a spare USB port or a phone charger you already own. If you want a dedicated 5 V mains supply, that is a separate purchase — tell us what you plan to plug in and we will size one.
When do I actually need the extra power?
When devices start dropping out. One or two low-draw items run fine on bus power alone. Add current when all four ports are busy, or when something with a motor or a light — a powered card reader, a bus-powered drive — disconnects under load.
Will it work with a USB-C laptop?
Only through an adapter, because the hub’s plug is USB-A. Conceptronic makes the same hub with a USB-C plug as the CTC4USB3 — if your machine has no USB-A port at all, that is the cleaner answer.
What is the difference between C4PUSB3 and CTC4USB3?
Only the plug on the cable. C4PUSB3 is USB-A, CTC4USB3 is USB-C. Same 101 mm black body, same four USB-A ports, same power jack, same 15 cm cable. Order by part number, because the two are almost impossible to tell apart in a photograph.
Singular Expert Insight
The power jack is the reason to pick this over the cheaper bus-only hubs that look the same on a shelf. It does not make the hub self-powered out of the box — Conceptronic ships a USB-DC lead, not a mains brick — but it means a hub that starts misbehaving under load can be rescued with an inexpensive adapter instead of a replacement. Keep the expectations right: four USB-A ports and nothing else, so flash drives, receivers and one external SSD are its natural load. A monitor or a network socket means a docking station, not a hub.

Buyer’s Guide

Buy it if

You need four USB-A ports from a USB-A machine and you want the option to add power later without replacing the hub.

Skip it if

Skip it if your laptop only has USB-C ports, if you expected a mains adapter in the box, or if you need video, Ethernet or laptop charging.

Also consider

Conceptronic CTC4USB3 if your computer has a USB-C port, or a hub that ships with its own mains adapter if you already know four hungry devices will be connected.
