Corsair Vengeance 16GB Kit (2x8GB) DDR4-2400 Laptop SO-DIMM
The Corsair Vengeance CMSX16GX4M2A2400C16 is a 16GB Kit (2x8GB) 260-pin DDR4 SO-DIMM for laptops and mini PCs rated at 2400 MT/s with CL16 latency at 1.2V, for DDR4 laptops, mini PCs and all-in-ones that take SO-DIMM memory.
It comes as 2 matched modules of 8GB, giving 16GB in total and up to 19.2 GB/s of peak bandwidth per module (PC4-19200). Adding or replacing a SO-DIMM is usually the simplest upgrade a laptop can get: more capacity means fewer slowdowns with many browser tabs, Office files and video calls open together.
Typical uses: upgrading an office or student laptop that struggles with Windows 11, Teams and many browser tabs, replacing a failed module, or populating a mini PC used as a small server or media box.
What's in the Box
- 2 × 8GB DDR4 SO-DIMM modules (16GB matched kit, tested together)
- Manufacturer packaging — memory installs tool-free into the slot, no cables or drivers needed
What It Means in Practice
- It is a standard JEDEC module: the system reads its settings automatically and runs it at 2400 MT/s CL16 if the platform supports that speed — no BIOS tuning. On a platform limited to a lower speed it simply runs slower, which is normal.
- Two modules fill both channels of a dual-channel platform — install them in the slots your motherboard manual marks for two-DIMM operation (usually A2/B2).
- 16GB is the sweet spot for everyday work, Office and most games, with room for a browser full of tabs alongside.
- Mixing it with a different existing module usually works at the speed of the slower one; for guaranteed dual-channel behaviour replace both modules with an identical pair.
- Installation takes a few minutes: power off, unplug the charger (and the battery if it is removable), open the memory cover or base panel, insert the module at an angle into the slot and press it down until both side clips lock.
- After installation, Windows Task Manager (Performance → Memory) shows the total capacity, the speed in MT/s and how many slots are used — a quick way to confirm everything is detected.
What Will Not Work
- DDR5 or DDR3 laptops — the notch is in a different position
- Desktop motherboards (they take full-size DIMMs)
- Laptops with soldered memory and no free SO-DIMM slot, including Apple MacBooks
- Combining two kits for more modules — memory makers test kits as a set and do not guarantee the rated speed with mixed kits
