The CORSAIR RM1000e (CP-9020339-EU) is a 1000 W fully modular ATX 3.1 power supply for gaming and workstation builds that run a current graphics card with a 12V-2x6 power socket. This is the newer RMe generation that ships with CORSAIR’s ThermalProtect 12V-2x6 cable: a GPU power cable with a passive temperature switch in its comb that cuts the GPU’s power signal if the connector overheats. Efficiency is certified Cybenetics Platinum (up to 91%), the fan stops completely at low and moderate load, and the unit is only 140 mm long, so it fits compact cases that reject longer 1000 W designs. This part number is the White edition; CORSAIR lists no technical difference from the black CP-9020337-EU.

Compatibility — check before buying:
Modular cables are CORSAIR Type 4. Use only the cables in this box, or genuine CORSAIR Type 4 cables. Never plug in modular cables from another brand, or CORSAIR Type 5 cables (SHIFT, SF-L) — pinouts differ and hardware can be damaged. ThermalProtect has a direction: the end with the CORSAIR logo on the comb goes to the graphics card, the end labelled “PSU” goes to the power supply; reversed, the temperature protection does not work. GPU sockets: one native 12V-2x6 cable for a single RTX-class card, plus a 12V-2x6-to-2×8-pin cable and two single 8-pin lead for cards with classic PCIe sockets. The box includes an AC power cord and mounting screws; CORSAIR does not state the plug type. CORSAIR does not state whether the cables of the White edition are white — ask us if cable colour matters for your build.

A bimetallic switch sits inside the comb 30 mm from the GPU plug. At 65°C ±5°C it disconnects the sense pins, so the graphics card drops to minimum power or shuts down instead of letting the connector overheat. It resets itself when it cools — no software, no firmware.

Will the RM1000e power my RTX 50-series card?
If the card uses one 12V-2x6 (12VHPWR) socket and its maker recommends a 1000 W supply or less, yes: the ThermalProtect cable delivers up to 600 W directly. Tell us the exact card and CPU and we check the total load for you.
What does ThermalProtect actually do?
It is a passive switch in the cable comb near the GPU plug. If the connector reaches about 65°C, it opens the sense line; the card reads this as insufficient power and limits itself or shuts down, and your display goes black. Once the cable cools the switch resets. It works with any GPU that has a native 12V-2x6 socket.
Can I reuse the cables from my old power supply?
Only if they are genuine CORSAIR Type 4 cables. Cables from other brands, and CORSAIR Type 5 cables, must never be used — the pin layouts differ even when the plugs look the same.
How is this different from the earlier RM1000e?
The previous RM850e (2025, CP-9020296-EU) is Cybenetics Gold and has a plain 12V-2x6 cable. This version is Cybenetics Platinum and adds the ThermalProtect cable, with the same 140 mm size and cable set.
