Cudy GS108E — Eight Gigabit Ports With VLANs, QoS and a Web Interface
8x gigabit ports in a metal caseWeb-managed — 802.1Q VLANs and QoS4 port-mirroring sessions, 4 trunk groupsFanless, 2.2 W maximum
The Cudy GS108E is an eight-port gigabit switch with a web interface, which is what separates it from the plug-and-play boxes at the same size. Through a browser you can set up 802.1Q VLANs, prioritise traffic with QoS, mirror ports for troubleshooting, aggregate links into trunk groups, run cable diagnostics and rate-limit individual ports. It sits in a metal case, runs fanless on 2.2 watts and mounts on a desk or a wall. For a small office or a home lab that has outgrown an unmanaged switch, it is the sensible next step.
Compatibility — check before buying:
There is no PoE on this switch — it will not power access points, cameras or phones. Cudy uses a P in the model code for PoE models. There are no SFP slots: for fibre uplinks, the GS108ES2 is the same switch with two dedicated 1.25G SFP ports added. It is not rack mountable and no rack ears are supplied — desk or wall only. Management is through the web interface and SNMP; although Cudy’s collection page labels this model “Cloud”, it does not appear on Cudy’s published list of cloud-supported switches, so do not buy it expecting app or cloud management. Link aggregation is published as static, with no LACP mention. Note also that Cudy has phased out hardware version 1.0 in favour of 2.0, which has a smaller 4096-entry MAC table than the 8192 of the original.
Best For
✓ Small offices that need VLANs to separate guest and staff traffic
✓ Home labs and IT test benches
✓ Troubleshooting with port mirroring and cable diagnostics
✓ Prioritising voice or video traffic with QoS
✓ Silent installations — fanless in a metal case
✓ Anyone who has outgrown an unmanaged switch
Key Features
A real web interface, not just a badge
802.1Q, MTU and port-based VLANs with 4096 VLAN IDs, QoS by 802.1p, DSCP or port, four port-mirroring sessions, loop detection and prevention, cable status and length diagnostics, and per-port rate limiting — all from a browser, with SNMP alongside.
Trunk groups for more bandwidth
Four static aggregation groups of up to seven ports each, so two or more links between switches can be bonded into one faster path with failover if a cable is lost.
Metal case, no fan
A metal housing rather than plastic, with no moving parts and a 2.2 watt maximum draw. It runs silent and cool in a cupboard, under a desk or on a wall.
Diagnostics that save a trip
Cable status and length diagnosis will tell you whether a run is broken and roughly where — useful before pulling up a floor or blaming the wrong device.

Singular Expert Insight
The gap between an unmanaged switch and this one is larger than the price difference suggests. VLANs alone justify it in any office that wants guest Wi-Fi kept away from the accounts machine, and port mirroring plus cable diagnostics turn a network fault from guesswork into a ten-minute job. Two clarifications worth having before you order. Cudy’s own collection page calls this a “Cloud” switch, but it is not on the published cloud-supported list — the GS1016E is, if remote management matters. And the naming is tight across this family: GS108 and GS108D are unmanaged, GS108U is unmanaged with USB-C power, GS108E is this one, and GS108ES2 adds fibre. Order by the full code. The rest of the range is in our switch and bridge section.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You want VLANs, QoS and port mirroring on eight gigabit ports in a silent metal case, and you do not need PoE, fibre or rack mounting.
Skip it if
You need PoE to power devices, SFP fibre uplinks, rack ears, or cloud and app management — this model publishes none of those.
Also consider
Cudy GS108ES2 for the same eight ports plus two SFP fibre slots. Cudy GS1016E for sixteen ports with confirmed app and cloud management. Cudy GS105U if five unmanaged ports and USB-C power are all you need.
