Cudy GS108ES2 — Eight Gigabit Ports Plus Two Fibre Slots
8x gigabit RJ45 + 2x 1.25G SFPWeb-managed — 802.1Q VLANs and QoSDedicated SFP slots, not comboFanless metal case
The GS108ES2 is Cudy’s eight-port easy-managed gigabit switch with two 1.25G SFP slots added on top, for ten ports in total. The fibre slots are dedicated rather than combo, so using them costs you nothing in copper ports. Through a web browser you get 802.1Q VLANs, QoS, port mirroring, IGMP snooping and static link aggregation. It is fanless, sits in a metal case, and takes a 12 volt adapter. This is the switch to buy when a fibre run has to reach a building, a floor or an outbuilding and you still want a managed edge at the end of it.
Compatibility — check before buying:
There is no PoE. This switch neither takes nor delivers PoE — Cudy marks its PoE models with a P in the code. SFP modules are not included and no fibre patch cable is supplied; the slots take standard 1.25G SFP transceivers, and both ends of a fibre link need a matching pair. It is not rack mountable and no rack ears are supplied. Note the trade against the plain GS108E: that model has the richer management set — four mirroring sessions against two here, four trunk groups against two, and cable diagnostics which this model does not publish. You are paying for fibre, not for more features. Cudy does not publish a warranty term for this product.
Best For
✓ Linking two buildings or floors over fibre
✓ Extending a network past the 100 m copper limit
✓ Small offices that want VLANs at the fibre edge
✓ Connecting to a fibre uplink from an ISP or core switch
✓ Silent installations — fanless metal case
✓ Separating guest and staff traffic with VLANs
Key Features
Two dedicated fibre slots, ten ports total
The 1.25G SFP slots are separate from the eight RJ45 ports rather than shared with them, so a fibre uplink does not cost you a copper port. Standard SFP modules, sold separately.
Past the 100-metre copper limit
Copper gigabit stops at about 100 metres. Fibre carries the link far beyond that, and it is immune to the electrical interference and lightning-induced surges that plague long copper runs between buildings.
Managed from a browser
802.1Q, MTU and port-based VLANs with 4096 VLAN IDs, QoS by 802.1p, DSCP or port, port mirroring, IGMP snooping, loop prevention, static link aggregation and per-port rate limiting.
Metal, fanless, low draw
A metal housing with no moving parts, powered by a 12 volt adapter. Silent enough for an office corner or a cupboard, and cool enough to leave alone.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are SFP modules included?
No. The two slots are empty and take standard 1.25G SFP transceivers, which you buy separately. A fibre link needs a matching module at each end plus the right fibre patch cable — tell us what you are connecting to and we will check the pairing for you.
Do the SFP slots take away copper ports?
No. They are dedicated slots, not combo ports shared with an RJ45. All eight copper ports stay usable while both fibre slots are in use, for ten active ports.
GS108ES2 or GS108E?
If you need fibre, this one. If you do not, the plain GS108E is the better managed switch of the two — four port-mirroring sessions against two, four trunk groups against two, and cable status and length diagnostics which this model does not publish.
Does it supply PoE to an access point or camera?
No. There is no PoE on this switch in either direction. Cudy puts a P in the model code for PoE models — tell us what you need to power and we will point you at the right one.
Singular Expert Insight
Fibre is the reason to buy this switch, and the dedicated slots are the detail that matters: on many switches at this price the fibre ports are combo, so lighting one kills a copper port. Here you keep all ten. Two things to plan before ordering.
Modules are separate and must match at both ends — the same wavelength, the same fibre type, and single-mode or multi-mode chosen for the distance you are actually running. And
check the model letters:
GS108 and
GS108D are unmanaged,
GS108E is managed without fibre, and
GS108ES2 is this one. If you also need to power devices over the same cabling, none of these will do it. The full range sits in our
switch and bridge section — tell us the distance and what is at the far end and we will spec the pair.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You need a fibre uplink or a run longer than 100 metres, plus VLANs and QoS on eight gigabit copper ports, in a silent metal box.
Skip it if
You have no fibre in the plan — the plain GS108E costs less and manages more; or you need PoE or rack mounting, which this model does not offer.
Also consider
Cudy GS108E for the same eight ports with a richer management set and no fibre. Cudy GS1028ES2 for twenty-eight ports in a 19-inch rack chassis. SFP transceivers to match your fibre run — ask us and we will pair them.
