The D-Link DGS-1510-28X is a 28-port SmartPro switch with 24 Gigabit RJ45 ports and four 10G SFP+ ports, physical stacking of up to six units and Layer 3 lite features such as static routing, in a 19-inch 1U chassis. It is designed as an affordable access or small-core switch for businesses that need 10G uplinks to servers, NAS or a core switch without moving to a full Layer 3 enterprise platform.

SmartPro means it combines a friendly web interface with an industry-standard CLI, Telnet/SSH and SNMP, so it can be managed by a small IT team or integrated into existing tools.

What It Means in Practice

  • Four 10G SFP+ ports connect servers or NAS at 10G, or uplink to a core switch.
  • Stacking runs over two of the SFP+ ports (DAC or optics): up to six units, 40 Gbps stacking bandwidth, managed as one. Those two ports are then used for stacking.
  • Static routing (64 IPv4 / 32 IPv6 routes) lets it route between VLANs locally.
  • The single smart fan runs only when the temperature requires it, keeping the switch quiet in normal offices.

What Will Not Work

  • It provides no PoE.
  • It has no dedicated stacking ports — stacking uses SFP+ ports, which reduces free 10G ports.
  • It does not support dynamic routing protocols such as OSPF or BGP.
  • SFP/SFP+ modules and DAC cables are not included.
