Compatibility — check before buying:
This model has no built-in speakers and no audio line-out or headphone jack — plan audio from your PC. The speaker version with a full ergonomic stand is the separate E2425HSM. There is no USB hub and Dell publishes no adaptive sync, so treat variable refresh as unavailable. The 100Hz refresh works over HDMI and DisplayPort 1.2; the VGA input is limited to 60Hz. The stand is tilt-only, -5° to +21°, with no height, swivel or pivot — use the 100 x 100 mm VESA mount for ergonomic positioning. A DisplayPort cable is supplied, not an HDMI cable — Dell includes HDMI in the Japanese market only, so order an HDMI or VGA cable separately if you need one. The E2425HM is the 2025 refresh of the monitor most organisations buy without thinking about it, and the changes are more meaningful than the model-code bump suggests. Moving from VA to IPS and from 75Hz to 100Hz, and adding an HDMI port that the outgoing E2425H genuinely did not have, turns it from a merely adequate screen into a decent one. Keep the contrast trade in mind though: the old VA panel hit 3,000:1 and this one is 1,000:1, so if deep blacks matter more than off-axis colour, the 21.5-inch E2225HSM still uses VA. The two things to plan around here are the tilt-only stand — if desks need height adjustment, specify the E2425HSM instead, which also brings speakers — and the cable in the box, which is DisplayPort rather than HDMI outside Japan.
