Dell UltraSharp U2725QE — 27" 4K IPS Black Thunderbolt 4 Hub Monitor

World's first 3000:1 IPS Black at 4K 120Hz — Thunderbolt 4 with 140W docking, 2.5G Ethernet, DisplayHDR 600 and DP daisy chain in a compact 27-inch display.

IPS Black 3000:1 4K 120Hz Thunderbolt 4 140W DisplayHDR 600 · 2.5G LAN

The Dell UltraSharp U2725QE is a 27-inch 4K IPS Black Thunderbolt hub monitor — the compact sibling of the U3225QE — sharing the same world-first 3000:1 enhanced IPS Black panel technology in a smaller 27-inch format. Its 3000:1 native contrast ratio is three times that of standard IPS panels, producing visibly deeper blacks and richer shadow detail without OLED burn-in risk. Combined with 4K resolution at 120Hz, 450 cd/m² brightness and DisplayHDR 600, the U2725QE is designed for professionals who want maximum image quality and Thunderbolt 4 docking at 140W Extended Power Range in a monitor that fits a compact desk. A single Thunderbolt 4 cable carries 4K 120Hz video, 140W charging and 2.5G Ethernet simultaneously, with Thunderbolt daisy chaining and DisplayPort out (MST) for a second monitor.

Best For

✓ MacBook Pro and Thunderbolt 4 laptop users with limited desk space

✓ Professionals wanting 4K + IPS Black contrast in a 27" form factor

✓ Dual-monitor setups via Thunderbolt or DP daisy chain

✓ Portrait-rotation use via full pivot stand

Key Features

World's First 3000:1 IPS Black at 27"

Dell's enhanced IPS Black technology achieves 3000:1 native contrast — three times standard IPS — in a 27-inch panel. Deeper blacks, richer shadow detail and a lower-reflectance coating that reduces glare from ambient light compared to conventional IPS.

Thunderbolt 4 · 140W EPR

A single Thunderbolt 4 cable carries 4K 120Hz video, 140W Extended Power Range charging and 2.5G Ethernet simultaneously. The 140W EPR covers MacBook Pro 16" fast-charging requirements. A TB4 downstream port enables daisy chaining a second display.

DisplayHDR 600 + 99% DCI-P3

600 nits peak brightness, DisplayHDR 600 certification and factory-calibrated Delta E<1.5 across 99% DCI-P3 and 99% Display P3 — professional colour accuracy for photo editing, video grading and design work straight from the box.

DP Out + Pop-out Hub + Pivot

DisplayPort 1.4 out (MST) enables a second monitor without Thunderbolt. Pop-out front ports (2× USB-C 10Gbps + 1× USB-A) provide instant peripheral access. Full pivot ±90° rotation enables portrait mode for coding, documents and vertical layouts.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does this compare to the U3225QE (32" sibling)?

The U2725QE and U3225QE share the same panel technology, Thunderbolt 4 140W EPR, 3000:1 IPS Black contrast, DisplayHDR 600 and full port set. The difference is screen size — 27" vs 32". The U2725QE has a smaller footprint (ideal for compact desks) and a higher pixel density (~163 PPI vs ~140 PPI), making text and fine detail slightly sharper at close distances. The U3225QE offers a larger, more immersive workspace for design and multitasking.

Does Thunderbolt 4 carry 4K 120Hz video, 140W charging and Ethernet at once?

Yes. The Thunderbolt 4 upstream port delivers 4K 120Hz video (DP 1.4 with DSC), up to 140W Extended Power Range Power Delivery and 2.5G Ethernet simultaneously. The 140W EPR supports MacBook Pro 16" fast-charging requirements and is compatible with all Thunderbolt 4 and USB4 laptops.

Can I daisy chain a second monitor?

Yes — two ways. The Thunderbolt 4 downstream port (15W) supports Thunderbolt daisy chaining to a second display. The DisplayPort 1.4 out port supports DP MST daisy chaining. Both methods allow a clean dual-monitor setup without an additional dock.

Is this compatible with Apple Mac?

Yes. The U2725QE is tested and compatible with macOS devices. Connect a MacBook Pro or MacBook Air via the included Thunderbolt 4 passive cable (1m) — one cable carries 4K 120Hz video, 140W charging, 2.5G Ethernet and full USB hub access. Dell Display and Peripheral Manager is available for macOS.

Singular Expert Insight

The U2725QE is the 27" version of the U3225QE — same world-first 3000:1 IPS Black, Thunderbolt 4 140W, DisplayHDR 600, 120Hz and 2.5G Ethernet, in a more compact footprint with a slightly higher pixel density. Choose it over the U3225QE when desk space is limited or you sit closer to your monitor. Choose the U3225QE when you prefer a larger 32" workspace for design, multitasking and content review. Both are the highest-contrast IPS monitors available at any size, and both include Thunderbolt 4 passive cable and full pivot stand.

Buyer's Guide

Buy it if

You want the definitive 27" productivity monitor — world's first 3000:1 IPS Black, Thunderbolt 4 140W, 4K 120Hz, DisplayHDR 600, 2.5G LAN, DP daisy chain and pivot.

Skip it if

You prefer a larger 32" workspace — the U3225QE has the same specs in a bigger panel. For OLED contrast, the AW2725Q (27" 4K 240Hz QD-OLED) offers infinite contrast at higher refresh rate.

Also consider

Dell U3225QE (32" version, same specs) for a larger workspace. Alienware AW2725Q (27" 4K 240Hz QD-OLED) for OLED gaming with Dolby Vision. Dell U2723QE for the prior-generation 27" IPS Black at a lower price.
