Dell UltraSharp Webcam WB7022 — 4K UHD with Windows Hello
4K UHD at 30 fpsWindows HelloAI auto-framing5x digital zoom
The WB7022 is Dell’s flagship webcam: an 8.3 megapixel Sony STARVIS sensor doing 4K UHD at 30 frames per second, Advanced Digital Overlap HDR with 3D and 2D noise reduction, a field of view you switch between 65, 78 and 90 degrees, and 5x digital zoom. It signs you into Windows by face, locks the machine when you walk away and wakes it when you come back. The cable is detachable and a magnetic mount and tripod adapter are in the box.
Compatibility — check before buying:
The one thing that surprises every buyer: the WB7022 has no microphone at all. Dell prints it as a plain No in the spec table. You will need a headset, a speakerphone or your laptop’s own microphone alongside it — and both cheaper Dell webcams, the WB5023 and WB3023, do have one. Second, the privacy cover is a separate magnetic cap that sits on the lens and can be lost; the WB3023 has an integrated shutter instead. Third, although the camera end is USB-C, it connects to the computer as USB-A on the supplied 2 m USB 3.1 Gen 1 cable. Windows Hello, walk-away lock and wake on approach all run through Dell Peripheral Manager, so they need that software installed. Note also that Dell has delisted this model from its UK and Ireland stores, so treat it as a late-life product.
Best For
✓ Desktops that need Windows Hello face sign-in and 4K in one camera
✓ Recording and capture where 4K detail matters
✓ Shared or secured desks — walk-away lock and wake on approach
✓ Difficult lighting, where DOL HDR and the STARVIS sensor earn their keep
✓ Setups that already have a headset or speakerphone for audio
Key Features
4K UHD on a Sony STARVIS sensor
8.3 megapixels at 3840 x 2160 and 30 fps, with Full HD and HD available at up to 60 fps. The STARVIS family is built for low light, and it shows in a dim office.
Windows Hello, walk-away lock and wake on approach
Face sign-in plus presence sensing: the machine locks when you leave the desk and wakes when you return. Both run through Dell Peripheral Manager.
AI auto-framing and 5x zoom
The camera keeps you centred as you move, and 5x digital zoom crops in on top of the 65, 78 or 90 degree field of view you choose.
Advanced Digital Overlap HDR
DOL HDR with 3D temporal and 2D spatial video noise reduction — Dell’s strongest image pipeline, and the reason a backlit face stays exposed.

Singular Expert Insight
Dell built this as the camera for a secure desk rather than for a call, and read that way it makes sense: 4K, a large STARVIS sensor, face sign-in, and a machine that locks itself when you stand up. The missing microphone is not an oversight so much as an assumption that a business desk already has a headset or a speakerphone — but it catches people out, so it belongs at the top of the page rather than the bottom. The other point worth weighing is lifecycle: Dell has delisted it in the UK and Ireland. If Windows Hello is not a requirement, a 2K Dell webcam with a microphone will suit most desks better.
Buyer’s Guide
Buy it if
You want 4K and Windows Hello face sign-in with presence-based locking, and audio is already handled by something else.
Skip it if
Skip it if you need a microphone in the camera, if you want an integrated shutter, or if you would rather not buy into a delisted model.
