Delock 64273 — seven slim ports that fit both USB-C and USB-A laptops

7 ports in a 7 mm barWorks on USB-C and USB-A1 x 5 Gbps + 6 x USB 2.0Aluminium, 50 cm cable

The Delock 64273 is a 165 mm aluminium bar just 7 mm thick that adds seven USB-A sockets to a notebook, desktop or tablet. What makes it unusual is the host end: Delock supplies it with both a USB-C and a USB-A connector, so the same hub serves a new machine with only USB-C and an older one with only USB-A without buying a second adapter. One of the seven ports runs at 5 Gbps for storage; the remaining six are USB 2.0, which is the right speed for keyboards, mice, receivers and dongles.

Compatibility — check before buying:
Only one of the seven ports is 5 Gbps — the other six are USB 2.0 at 480 Mbps and share that bandwidth. If you are buying this to run several external drives quickly, it is the wrong hub. It is bus-powered with no external power input: Delock notes that what the connected devices get depends on the input power and how many are plugged in, so seven hungry devices at once is not realistic. There is no power supply and no extra cable in the box — just the hub and the manual. Also check the item number before ordering: the near-identical 64272, 64274, 64275 and 64214 are different port layouts in the same slim housing.

Best For

✓ Laptops that have USB-C now and USB-A on the older machine
✓ Desks with many low-speed peripherals
✓ Keyboards, mice, wireless receivers and dongles
✓ One flash drive or card reader at 5 Gbps
✓ Tablets such as iPad Pro and Surface Pro 7
✓ Bags where a 7 mm bar beats a plastic block

Key Features

One hub, two kinds of laptop
Delock gives this hub a USB-C connector and a USB-A connector, so it plugs into a machine that has dropped full-size USB and into one that never had USB-C — useful when a desk is shared or a fleet is mid-refresh.

One fast port where it counts
Port one runs at USB 5 Gbps, so a flash drive or card reader moves at proper speed; the other six sit at USB 2.0, where a mouse or keyboard has never noticed the difference.

Slim metal, not a plastic block
A 165 x 17 x 7 mm aluminium housing on a 50 cm cable — long enough to reach round the back of a monitor, thin enough to slide into the laptop sleeve.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are all seven ports the same speed?
No, and it is the first thing to get straight. Delock builds this hub with one USB-A port at 5 Gbps and six at USB 2.0, which caps at 480 Mbps and is shared between those six. Put the flash drive, card reader or external SSD on the fast port and everything else — mouse, keyboard, receiver, licence dongle, headset — on the USB 2.0 ports, where the difference is invisible.
How does it connect to a laptop that has no USB-C?
It has both. Delock supplies the hub with a USB-C connector and a USB-A connector on the host end, so it plugs into either kind of machine straight out of the box. That is genuinely useful if you are replacing laptops gradually, or if the hub moves between a docking desk and an older tower.
Do I need a power supply for it?
There is no power input on this hub and none is supplied — it runs entirely on what the host port gives it. Delock says as much directly: what the connected devices receive depends on the input power and how many are connected. For peripherals and one flash drive that is fine. If you want to run bus-powered hard drives or charge a phone at speed from a hub, you need a mains-powered model instead; tell us what you plan to plug in and we will point you at the right one.
Singular Expert Insight
Two things separate the 64273 from the rest of our USB hub range. The first is the dual host connector: most slim hubs commit to USB-C or USB-A, and this one does both, which is why it survives a laptop replacement. The second is the port mix — one 5 Gbps port and six USB 2.0 — and that is a deliberate design, not a compromise to complain about, because six of the seven things most people plug into a hub have never needed more than 480 Mbps. Where it is the wrong choice is fast storage in quantity: copying to two USB flash drives at once, or running bus-powered drives, wants a powered 5 Gbps or 10 Gbps hub. One ordering warning worth repeating — Delock sells 64272, 64274, 64275 and 64214 in the same slim aluminium housing with completely different port layouts, so check the item number and not the photograph.

Buyer’s Guide

Buy it if

You need a lot of ports for low-speed peripherals and one fast port for a drive. Your machines are a mix of USB-C and USB-A and you want a single hub that fits both. You want a 7 mm aluminium bar rather than a plastic block on the desk.

Skip it if

You need several fast ports — six of the seven are USB 2.0 at 480 Mbps shared. You want to run bus-powered hard drives or charge devices quickly: there is no power input at all. You need Ethernet, video or a card reader.

Also consider

A mains-powered 5 Gbps hub if you are connecting drives or charging. A USB-C hub with Power Delivery if you also want the laptop to charge through the same port. Check Delock 64272, 64274, 64275 and 64214 if you want a different port mix in the same housing.
