Delock PCI Express x1 Card to 2 × Serial RS-232 — Low Profile
2 × RS-232 DB9PCIe x1 2.0ASIX AX99100Low profile
The Delock PCI Express x1 Card adds two external RS-232 serial ports (DB9 male) to a Windows PC through a free PCIe slot. It is built on the ASIX AX99100 chipset with a 16C950-compatible UART, supports data rates up to 921.6 Kbps and comes with low-profile brackets for compact and small-form-factor PCs.
It is aimed at businesses and technicians that still run serial equipment — barcode scanners and scales, POS devices, protocol converters, PLCs, modems, IoT and lab instruments — on newer PCs that no longer have COM ports on the motherboard.
Before you order: Drivers are listed for Windows 8.1, 10 and 11 (32/64-bit). Delock does not list Linux or macOS support for this card. With two DB9 ports, a low-profile installation uses two bracket positions in the case.
What's in the Box
- 1 × Delock PCI Express serial card
- 2 × low-profile brackets
- 1 × driver CD
- 1 × user manual
What It Means in Practice
- The two ports appear in Windows as standard COM ports, so legacy software that talks to COM1/COM2-style ports usually works without changes.
- Flexible settings (5–9 data bits, 1/1.5/2 stop bits, parity and RTS/CTS or XON/XOFF flow control) cover most industrial and POS devices.
- The driver CD is included, but on PCs without an optical drive download the current driver from Delock.
- A PCIe x1 card also fits x4, x8 and x16 slots.
What Will Not Work
- It does not provide RS-422 or RS-485 — only RS-232.
- It does not supply 5 V / 12 V power on pin 9 for powered serial devices (not listed by Delock).
- It will not install in old PCI (non-Express) slots.
- It is not a USB-to-serial adapter — it needs an internal PCIe slot, so it will not work with laptops.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will my old serial software work?
In most cases yes — the ports are standard Windows COM ports. You can assign the COM number in Device Manager if the software expects a specific one.
Does it fit a full-height case?
The card is low profile; Delock lists two low-profile brackets in the box. If you need a full-height bracket, ask us before ordering.
Is a USB serial adapter not easier?
For laptops, yes. For a desktop or POS PC that runs serial devices all day, an internal PCIe card is usually more stable.
Singular Expert Insight · Buyer's Guide
Serial devices outlive PCs, and a PCIe RS-232 card is the cleanest way to keep them running on new hardware. Check your operating system, count the bracket slots you have, and confirm your device needs RS-232 rather than RS-485. For other expansion cards, see our
controller and adapter cards.
✓ Buy it if you need two RS-232 COM ports in a Windows desktop or small form factor PC with a free PCIe slot.
✕ Skip it if you need RS-422/485, Linux/macOS drivers, or serial ports on a laptop.
→ Also consider a USB to RS-232 adapter for laptops or temporary setups.
