The Delock 61889 is a small USB 2.0 Bluetooth 4.0 dual-mode adapter that adds Bluetooth to desktop PCs and laptops that do not have it, or whose built-in Bluetooth has failed. Dual mode means it handles both Bluetooth Classic (with EDR) for devices like headsets, speakers and older keyboards, and Bluetooth Low Energy for modern mice, fitness devices and sensors.
The adapter uses a Broadcom chipset, is a Class 2 device with a range of up to 10 metres and a data rate of up to 3 Mbps, and is powered from the USB port. Delock lists Windows 7, 8.1, 10 and 11; on Windows 10 it works with the default driver, without extra software, and a driver CD is included for older systems.
At about 19.5 x 16 x 8 mm it is small enough to stay permanently in a laptop USB port.
Before you order: Delock publishes Windows support only. macOS and Linux are not listed. Bluetooth 4.0 works with newer Bluetooth 5.x devices, but features that need Bluetooth 5 (longer range, LE Audio) are not available.

Will it work with my Bluetooth 5 headphones?
Yes, Bluetooth is backward compatible. The connection runs at Bluetooth 4.0 capability, so Bluetooth 5-specific features are not available.
Do I need to install a driver on Windows 11?
Delock lists Windows 11 support. On Windows 10 the built-in driver is used; the included CD covers older Windows versions.
Should I disable my laptop's built-in Bluetooth?
Yes, if the laptop already has Bluetooth, disable it in Device Manager so Windows uses the adapter.
Can I use it on a Mac?
Delock does not list macOS, so we cannot promise it. Modern Macs have Bluetooth built in.
